If you’re anything like me, you accidentally wait until the last minute to throw goodies together for pot lucks, holiday get-togethers, and other planned events. I am pretty bad about it because I just assume I’ll have the ingredients on-hand to whip something up and throw it together.
One quick appetizer that I love to make reminds me of my family at holidays. My great grandmother (or Granny as we called her) made these for several years on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas when our whole family gathered together. I miss that! This is a great way to stretch your ingredients and make something that people will rave about. Behold, Simple Pigs in a Blanket.
You will need 1-2 cans of refrigerated crescent rolls and 1 regular sized package of cocktail weenies (like Lit’l Smokies).
Unroll the crescents into individual triangles. You can use them like that, or do like I do and split each one into half. Roll one cocktail weenie per piece of crescent (so each can of crescents will make 16 Pigs in a Blanket). Place on an ungreased cookie sheet or stoneware baking sheet. Bake according to your crescent’s instructions.
