Awesome new recipe site – Cooking with Coke! (and a GREAT giveaway!!)

I have GOT to tell you about this great new website that was launched…by one of my FAVORITE companies ever:

Yep, Coca Cola!  If you know me at all, you know what a Diet Coke addict I am… yes, it’s almost shameful.  I’ve considered installing a soda fountain at my home to save cash.  lol

Anyway, back to the website… CookingwithCoke.com is a brand new website that is chock FULL of great recipes that either include some Coke products OR would be best enjoyed with an ice cold Diet Coke or Coca Cola.  YUM!! 

There are lots of great features on the site, including excellent recipes by celebrity chefs Ingrid Hoffmann and G. Garvin.  You can also share your own recipes and favorite Coke moments from your families.  You can even create, share, and print a digital cookbook!  How cool is that??  PLUS, just for sending in your own recipes, you will have a chance at winning one of 2 Grand Prizes they’ll be awarding worth $599!!  See the rules and get to submitting some great recipes and stories!  Hurry, it closes May 31st!!

    From the “Involve the Whole Family” section of the site, I like the getting teens involved tab. My favorite tip is to have them try different flavors from around the globe.

    My fave tip is family meal time. We hear the most from our daughter on the nights we all sit at the table and eat supper. This is really important!

    I liked their tip on turning the kitchen into a laboratory for 4-8 yr olds, on involving the whole family. My son loves science, so this would appeal to him.

    Getting your children involved
    It’s never too early to make your children an important part of the process. For your 4-8 year old, transform your kitchen into a laboratory where meals are magically created and the family is brought together. At this age, there’s no need for complicated recipes. In fact, the simpler, the better. Give yourself a break by saving time and energy and focusing mealtime preparation on fun. You can try our Coca-Cola recipes as an exciting entry point to creating a family tradition.

    Coca Cola Crockpot Roast. Yum. My husband would be happy if I cooked in the crockpot every single day but there aren’t enough recipes that they’ll eat for me to do that so I love finding more. This one sounds fantastic.

    This was my favorite tip: ‘Make time for your teen

    They grow up so fast. And with the teen years come extra curricular activities, sports and growing independence. And while it may be harder than ever to prepare regular family meals together, it’s also more important than ever. Studies have shown that kids who have frequent family meals compared to kids who have less than three family dinners per week are likelier to do better in school, are at a lower risk for substance abuse, and are half as likely to try cigarettes. So while it can be hard wrangling your teen, giving them a safe place to talk and share in the kitchen can make a world of difference in your child’s future.’

    I have a 15 year old daughter who will be a junior in high school this year so I need all the help I can get.

    My favorite tip was from the “Involve the Whole Family” section is making the kitchen fun again by using simple ingredients to create dishes your child will love to cook over and over again or you can even break the ice with a Coca-Cola treat and create an atmosphere of excitement in the kitchen!
