52 in 52 Review: 60 Quick and Easy Science Experiments with Everyday Items (AND A GIVEAWAY!!)

So this week’s book review is a little different than the other reviews I’ve been doing.  This week, I’m reviewing a science e-book that would be PERFECT for the homeschooling family or a parent that just wants to get involved with science fun.  The projects in this book would probably be best for kids aged 3-7 or so, but of course if you have older or younger children, everything could be modified as needed.

Touch of Home Learning

Touch of Home Learning has really rolled out a great product with this book.  It retails for $54.95 on their website.

The layout of this book is awesome!  The table of contents breaks it down into categories such as Space, Dinosaurs, Kitchen Science, Magic or Science? and many more.  Each experiment usually involves the kids making something and it includes your supply list, preparation instructions, discussion topics, the steps to do or make the project, and some include even more questions or ideas.
The projects and creations are so cool!  I am particularly excited because we are part of a homeschooling co-op for roughly 4-8 year olds and this will be just PERFECT since we do science  each week with the kids!
Something I love about this is that the materials are literally things you likely have sitting around your home right now.  I know, I know, you’ve probably read that before in craft or science books only to find that you needed complicated stuff that you didn’t even know where to look for at a store, but this one is legit. 🙂
I will be doing some fun projects and experiments with my kids from this in the next few weeks and hopefully will have a chance to post about it and maybe post some pictures, too!  I think our whole family will probably get involved in this… my hubby LOVES science!
The format of this book is extremely mom-friendly and it combines science activities across different ages in a really unique, easy, and cohesive way.  I can see doing these activities with all 3 of my children at one time and each of them will learn something and have something to contribute as well.  I can also see them begging to recreate favorites and beg to do more research on the experiments they like most.

    My kiddos take a local art class and they came home telling me about these “paper beads” they were making. NOW I know exactly how they are doing it, thanks to the “Paper Bead Necklaces” entry. SO, that is what I learned! HA!

    I checked out Touch of Home Learning’s blog and I LOVE it! I am a new follower of theirs and plan on making the snow out of shaving cream and glue! We had never heard of that before and I look forward to seeing how long it will last.

    After going to her page I also read some other reviews that were posted. One of the moms said,
    “It is divided nicely by subject, and subjects that captivate children – bubbles, dinosaurs, space, and more.” I like knowing that it is going to be FUN subjects that my child would actually be interested in.

    What a great site! I really liked the Feelings book, and I plan to try the “Do plants drink water?” experiment with celery with my kids today!

    Hi, I loved all the Valentines activity ideas. Too bad I didn’t see them yesterday. I like the different animals you can make with the hearts. My girls would love that.
