Maybe it’s just me, but I rarely have time to go see a movie when it is in the theater. Between my husband’s work schedule, not having a babysitter, the expense, and the stress of scheduling it all, I much prefer to just go straight to DVD with just about everything. (My only exception is kid movies. We now live in a place with discount movie theaters and I love to take the kids to see them in the theater for a few bucks during the day.)
When I’m looking for something to watch, I usually look at the recent releases on DVD and decide what would be a good choice for the evening. My husband and I have similar taste in movies, but we do PREFER distinctly different genres. Although I really love watching chick flicks and really cheesy comedies, my hubby prefers action movies and what I call Man Films. I’m sure you know what I’m referring to: movies with blood and guts, martial arts, and/or epic battles of completely unrealistic proportions.
One movie that my hubs regrets not seeing in the the theater is the new Transformers flick. I’m sure we’ll be getting Transformers Dark of the Moon on DVD sometime sooner rather than later! He liked the last one, so I am sure he wants to keep up with all the action. Apparently there’s no better time to watch Man Films than when I’m pregnant. It seems like I watch more Man Films while pregnant than ANY other time. Maybe the hormones weaken my resistance or raise my tolerance or something. 🙂
What about you? Do you prefer watching movies when they’re new and in the theater or do you like the convenience of viewing at home? For those of you that do make it to the theater (and have kids), kudos to you and your resourcefulness! While we’d love the date night out, it just doesn’t work well for us right now.

We have only managed one drive in movie since Riley was born, and that’s exactly what movie we saw 😉 Hubby and I both like action movies and there was no way we were missing T 3. It was great being summer time, the movie started at 930 and Riley nursed and slept in my lap the whole time. Probably wouldn’t work now that the sun sets so early. We usually wait for rental or PPV, and usually only do those with coupons.
