There really is nothing like snuggling up next to the kids and settling in for a good read. We read books at least 5 times a week before bedtime and it’s time that I just cherish. You may remember a few years ago when I introduced you all to the book “Happy’s Christmas Gift“. Geoff Parker Sr is at is again with another delightful book featuring a sweet dog named Happy. (See below the pics of the books for information on the coloring contest and the giveaway on MY blog, too!)

*I was sent a copy of the books mentioned for the purpose of this holiday feature, but all opinions are my own.
We loved the illustrations by Lisa Fox in both of these books. They are vibrant, beautiful, and playful. The stories are both so sweet. Children will love following along as Happy tries to get out of sticky situations!
In “Happy’s Christmas Gift“, Happy wants to save the day – but has to try and get back home in time for Christmas! This book is part of our holiday rotation of bedtime stories. They ask for this story often, and have ever since we got it 2 years ago!
In “Happy As A Fox“, Happy falls into trouble while visiting relatives in the British countryside. My children liked this book so much. I have already read it 6 times and I don’t see my kids tiring of it any time soon. Even my one year old loves to point to the pages and look at the animals.

Happy’s 3rd Annual Coloring Contest
This coloring contest is a really fun tradition, and they have 4 new pictures this year! The contest is split into different age categories and by regions as well. There will be LOTS of winners!
One of the aims of this contest, besides having a little fun, is to see how the children choose their colours for the objects in the pictures, how neat they are, their choice of instrument …crayon, colour pencils, poster paints, etc…even marking pens!
Whatever it takes to provide a wonderful picture that the child feels is their best effort and honest interpretation. The process to enter is simple and FREE: Go to the www.happytalespublishing.com website and click on ‘Colouring Contests’…this will take you to the section which provides basic information and list of prizes etc.. Go to the Country/Region that you live in and click on the picture titles and the pictures/entry forms will appear.
Download and print them for the children as needed. Print clearly their age, names, addresses and e mail addresses if you wish to receive next year’s colouring contest information and other on-going information about ‘Happy Books’.
Maybe one day, one or more of our winners will become illustrators for fine children’s storybooks like our much loved award winning ‘Happy’ series with “Happy’s Christmas Gift” [2012] and “Happy as a Fox” [2013] winning the Gelett Burgess Honour Awards for excellence in Children’s literature in successive years.
Entries must be received before midnight on Saturday 14 December 2013 to be considered for prizes. Winners will be contacted through email and announced on Facebook, and the prizes will be dispatched during the week of 16 December 2013.
