Living in Dallas has certainly opened my eyes up to the amazing culture and events available close to home, and the State Fair of Texas is certainly among the most talked about! While I am a born and raised Texan, I have NEVER been to the State Fair of Texas. Not only is there a fun birthday celebration going on for Big Tex, but I have an exciting flash giveaway of 2 free tickets to the fair!
On September 30th (this Sunday), join me at the State Fair of Texas where we’ll be joining Oak Farms Dairy and Dairy MAX at the foot of Big Tex at the entrance to the fair at 1PM to toast him on his 60th birthday. Not only that, but you’ll have a chance to win free milk for a year and experience the Dairy Discovery Zone!
The interactive and virtual fun tour, Dairy Discovery Zone, is geared toward children, but can also teach adults about the dairy industry, along with the consumption, nutrition and sale of dairy products, and healthy lifestyles. The mobile exhibit features a walk‐through trailer that has a touch screen television featuring educational videos and 150 facts line the walls. After walking through the trailer there are multiple handouts, including recipes and a backpack.
Dairy MAX is also involved in Fuel Up to Play 60. They have teamed up with the National Dairy Council and the National Football League to eat right and stay active. Fuel Up to Play 60 has challenges throughout the year for students, and the winners receive prizes. Former and present NFL players visit schools to talk to the students and educate them about the importance of having a healthy lifestyle. Dairy MAX’s goal is to educate people about the importance of healthy living and the nutritious facts about dairy while being entertaining

I have never been to the state fair, but would imagine my favorite part, at least this year being pregnant, would be the food.

I think the best thing is fried everything! If you can think of it it comes fried! Plus the fun we have with my family!
I am a new Texan so I can’t give a verified ‘favorite thing’ but I would love the opportunity to go this year to try all the FRIED FOOD that the Texas State Fair is famous for!! 🙂 I think my two year old would get a big kick out of all the things to explore, too! (I’m a fan of yours on FB, I’m also parr4course on Twitter)
The food, last year I got to try a corn dog for the first time at the State Fair-yum!!! Wouldn’t get one anywhere else now =)
