In addition to the cow outside, we went into the portable display trailer that they’d set up on the fairgrounds and the kids learned even more. There were displays of dairy products, videos from real farms and farmers, and a lot of informational display boards talking about the dairy process and nutritional values. They had a good time using all of the interactive displays, and my son pictured above was especially excited since milk is his absolute favorite drink of all time!
Back outside, each kid got to fill in their own paper plate place setting with colored pencils They drew in healthy options for each food group. My daughter did the drawing above and chose cheese for the dairy item. We also got a few brochures, backpacks for each child, and pencils, stickers, bracelets, and more goodies. My daughter wore her backpack around the fair all day!
Right before we left to check out the stage with live entertainment directly next door, they began handing out FREE milk. My kids were thrilled with this, and I loved that we got a free beverage that was not filled with any junk or sugar. The fact that it was free was perfect for me! 🙂
If you head out to the State Fair of Texas, be sure to check out Dairy Max at the Dairy Discovery Zone!
