Having kids can be stressful, but it is important to remember to allow them to have fun. As parents, I feel like it is our job to facilitate experiences in life rather than to just plan every detail for them. Direct your energy in ways that are positive and fun for everybody.
It doesn’t have to be hard or time consuming to spend special time with kids. They can experience a great life on a budget, too. The important thing here is to make the time for them.
With 5 kids, it can be hard to really feel connected to each kid individually. Because of this, I’ve had to be much more intentional to make sure that each kid gets enough of my time, love, and energy.
Here are my favorite 3 Ways to #LiveBrighter with Kids
1. Try new playgrounds, pools, or parks.
Whether your kids are babies or teenagers, everyone can benefit from some fresh air. Give your kids access to new places to run around if they are young. For older kids, they can enjoy the benefits of being outside and either bring a book, a Frisbee, or their favorite pet. Don’t be too strict in planning this, just be sure to help them come up with the new places.
2. Try new restaurants or recipes with them at home.
Food is love, right? Enjoy new tastes with your kids. Try a new local pizza place or some Thai take out. Maybe cooking at home is more up your alley. Try a new recipe with your kids, or let them cook for you! It’s amazing how drawn together we can be when food is involved. It can be fun and exciting for everyone!
3. Enjoy screen-free time together.
It’s easy to bury your nose in your phone or tablet. I’m sure your kids love their gaming systems, too. That’s all good and well, but it’s great to unplug for a bit and just enjoy each others’ company! Make it a challenge. Vow to put the screens down for 15 minutes, but see who can last the longest without picking it up. In the meantime, have a great conversation, work on homework together, brainstorm ways to help others, work out, play a board game, or plan your next adventure together. Enjoy the real one on one time.
