The 4th of July is right around the corner, and you’re probably trying to think of some fun ideas to celebrate! Why not DIY and really get into the spirit of things? I have compiled several fun activities and crafts that I think you and your family will just love.

For the most part, the difficult level on these is very low. That’s important for me, because my ability level in the arts and crafts department is pretty low, too. 🙂
4th of July Kid Crafts
I have to start with the kids! Here are some fun crafts to do with the kids to celebrate Independence Day this July 4th. Getting them excited about red, white, and blue couldn’t be easier!
Firework Craft for Kids of All Ages

Thank you to The Frugal Mom for the photo.
My kids love doing arts and crafts. If you’re searching for a quick and easy, inexpensive option, look no further than The Frugal Mom! With just a few materials that you likely already have around your house, the kiddos can celebrate Independence Day by making their very own fireworks pictures.
Festive 4th of July Sunglasses

Thank you to Southern Yankee Mix for the photo!
This 4th of July craft from Southern Yankee Mix is so cute, and so simple! These little sunglasses can be totally customized and as flashy as your little artist desires.
Depending on the ages of the children doing the craft, you could use more or less decorative goodies. I think my daughter would be over the moon if I let her use a ton of glitter and maybe some sequins or jewels to decorate hers! My boys, on the other hand, would be happy just to use the glue and leave it as is after that point. 🙂
4th of July Felt Wreath

WOW! Talk about cheap and easy! (Don’t read that wrong….) This craft is simple enough that little folks can help, but neat enough that no one will care if a grown up makes it and hangs it up. 🙂 I love this basic craft and think we may give it a shot this year. This Red, White, and Blue Felt Wreath craft comes from Staci at 7 on a Shoestring.
DIY Red, White and Blue to Wear
Is there anything cuter than kids wearing matching patriotic clothes at parades or fireworks displays? I think not. Here are some great shirts that you can make on the cheap with or for your kids, as well as a super fun nail polish technique to really round out the look!
Bleach T-Shirts

Thanks for Milk and Cuddles for the photo!
I’ll admit, before I saw this Bleach T-Shirts craft on Milk and Cuddles, I had never thought to intentionally bleach clothes before. This idea is simple, inexpensive, and the same technique could be used on other things like jeans or a tote bag.
Glow in the Dark Shirts

Thanks to Dukes and Duchesses for this pic.
What a cool idea from Dukes and Duchesses to make glow in the dark t-shirts! This would make your kids very easy to locate (or YOU to easily locate if you make one for yourself, too) at those dark fireworks shows and cookouts.
(Practically) No-Sew Button & Applique Shirt

Thank you to A Frugal Friend for this adorable pic and tutorial!
A Frugal Friend shared this adorable DIY Button & Applique Shirt idea, and I love it. It’s simple enough that even I could make it, but cute enough that it’ll turn heads and folks will be asking where you bought it. Get your game face ready for your reply of, “Oh, this ol’ thing? I made it, of course!”
Firecracker Nails

Thank you, Jana, for this photo!
Now for a little bit of nail out to keep the fun going! This tutorial from Jana on Thirty-One: 10 shows you how to make firecracker nail art. What a fun way to make a statement.
Decorations to Make to Celebrate Our Independence
Okay, now that you’ve seen what the kiddos can make, what about some more grown up ideas? I love these 2 crafts, and I hope you’ll enjoy their festive charm as well.
Washi Tape Sparklers

Thanks for the photo, Giggles Galore!
I’m officially a little flabbergasted. It never in a million years would have occurred to me that simple sparklers could be made prettier and fancier to fit in with the red, white, and blue theme. These Washi Tape Sparklers from Giggles Galore are so stinking adorable. What a special way to make them unique.
July 4th Firecrackers

Thanks for the pic, Jamie!
Well they’re not real, but they sure look like it! How whimsical are these cute DIY July 4th Firecrackers? The skill set required for this craft goes a little beyond my abilities, but I might be able to enlist the help of someone a bit more handy to pull it off. Check it out for yourself. Cute and customizable!
Looking for a Texas Getaway for the 4th?
For those looking for a fun way to celebrate Independence Day, from the looks of it, Horseshoe Bay, Texas looks like a beautiful Hill Country destination for the 4th! Check out what fun things they have planned at Horseshoe Bay Resort according to Mama Challenge.
How will you be celebrating?
My favorite colors are red, white, and blue!! I love the wreath!! It goes with my decor! Shared
