The awesome folks that sent this movie set to me to review included some awesome extras that *really* encouraged a family fun movie night! I got fun little extras: viking helmets, a s’mores kit, some microwave popcorn, the book The Art of How to Train Your Dragon, and some candy. How fun is THAT???
These movies are great and were just released on November 15th. If you loved the original movie, you will LOVE these as they continue the adventures and let you see some never before seen dragons! Each adventure is fairly short, which I like because they are not meant to be sequels. 🙂 I also loved the extra features, like the deleted scenes, 3-D Land of the Dragons, and World of DreamWorks Animation.
I hope to set up the online video game with my kids in the near future for them to have some fun. The online game looks really neat because you get to fight epic dragon battles in 14 battle arenas and 8 dragon lairs!
If you are in need of a great game that the whole family can enjoy, family members aged 5 and up can play a really fun new game based on my kids’ favorite ONLINE game: Angry Birds: Knock On Wood Game. It is for 2-4 players and priced at $28.95.
If you and your children are familiar with the game, you’ll love this one! It basically brings the game into real-life action. Build, Launch, and Destroy to win. We love this game because it’s one way for us to spend time together as a family, laughing and playing, without relying on a screen for entertainment. That’s always a nice option to have on hand! My kids thought this was a great game and were already talking about the next time we get to play when we were cleaning up! (Even though my oldest son is just 4, he played right along like some kind of expert! hehe)
My only “con” about the game is that only up to 4 players can play. Sometimes we have larger groups of folks around to play a game and have to get creative to include everyone. I could see making this game a “team” game if you have extra players.
Another lovely way to spend time together is by reading a book together as a family. There are so many awesome books this holiday season that would be perfect, and one that I recently enjoyed with my family is Cassandra’s Angel by Gina Otto. It is priced at $14.95 for a hard cover copy and is beautiful.
I would encourage families to make it a tradition to read this book several times a year. Don’t be deceived and think that this book is merely for children! We can all benefit from the eloquent words and strong message. Seriously, get this book!!
