Thank you to SEA LIFE Aquarium Grapevine for allowing my family to visit the attraction for the purpose of this post.
For a very limited time, Thursday-Sunday until July 7, 2019, SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium is hosting a mermaid event! You can see a mermaid swimming in the venue’s 160,000 gallon tank right next to the amazing sea life that we like checking out normally. In fact, you can even interact with the mermaid and take photos!
My family loves going to SEA LIFE as a homeschool field trip to learn about a vast array of underwater creatures. This new special event was a really fun reason to head back over there to see what it was about and revisit our favorite animals and exhibits.

The mermaid seen below was just past the underwater ocean tunnel. We were placed in a line to be able to have our own special time and to take personal photos. There was another line if you just wanted a quick glance or to observe without getting close to the mermaid.

She was adorable, and very interactive! As you can see, she got a little sleepy when we came by.

My youngest thought it was really cool to be up close! He thought it was really neat to see her swimming right alongside all of the huge fish, sharks, and rays.

Toward the end of our visit, in the theatre area, we had the opportunity to take a picture with another mermaid as she took a break on dry land. None of my kids were brave enough, but doesn’t she look beautiful there, waiting for the next excited child to snuggle up close?

Following is a press release with more details. HURRY, because the mermaids will be returning to the sea soon!

While you are at SEA LIFE, be sure to take the time to enjoy their other exhibits.
My children have loved the Sea Turtle Rehab and Rescue Center since it opened last year. There is so much to do!

Of course, their favorite part of this section of SEA LIFE is seeing real sea turtles! If you come at the right time, you can even see employees feeding them. We’ve done that before, and the kids always get a kick out of it.

Near the end of your time at SEA LIFE, there are several open tanks where you can touch a variety of sea creatures. My favorite are the star fish, but as you can see, my 7 year old is open to getting his hands on anything! The folks attending this station coach children on the proper way to stroke them without damaging or scaring them.

The jelly fish tank is always so beautiful. Its colors change from color to color as you see the delicate creatures illuminated in their tank.

For the more active or jokester type of kids in your party, there are MANY places at SEA LIFE where they can get in the exhibits and feel like they’re in a little bubble in the tanks. There is a cave-like tunnel near the stingray area and several exhibits with these observation bubbles as my son, Heath, is showing you below.

Be sure to stop by SEA LIFE in Grapvine, Texas this summer! If you can squeeze in a mermaid visit by the 7th, definitely do that. Even if you miss that, there are so many other neat things to see and do at this conveniently-located attraction. For reference, it is right across from LEGOLAND Discovery Center and in the same mall as Peppa Pig World of Play. There’s something for everyone!
