I will officially be 12 weeks pregnant tomorrow (Easter Sunday)! I thought I might as well give an update on my pregnancy and chronicle some of my experiences here from the first trimester since I didn’t blog about it until recently. 🙂
So far, I have had about 7 weeks of feeling queasy. Lately, it has been easing up, but the first several weeks were pretty gross. I would binge eat when I could eat, and then just feel disgusting the rest of the time. I got some awesome intestinal fun from that cycle, as I’m sure you can imagine.

Here is my ultrasound picture from Tuesday! I was 11w2d.
Food, or talking about food, has made me feel gross up until the past few days. I would have to tell my husband to quit asking me what I wanted for dinner because just talking about it made me feel like puking. So far, I have never thrown up during pregnancy, and I know that I’m very fortunate and thankful for that!
It’s interesting because I have been feeling fuller on a lot less food lately. I always hear people claim to have that happen when they are very far along in their pregnancy because the baby is squishing everything, but I *never* have that problem at the end. It’s sort of funny to already have a limited appetite now, even with those binges when I’m really hungry.
I’ve also been ridiculously exhausted the past several weeks. It is not uncommon for me to fall asleep in the middle of helping the kids with school work. I’ve also been laying back down for a morning or afternoon nap at least a few times a week.
I’ve had some round ligament pain since a few days before I even found out I was pregnant. Occasionally, I’ll have pain while twisting to get up out of bed or after sneezing. Luckily, I haven’t had crazy cramping. Last pregnancy I had a lot of cramping in my early first trimester, but so far so good this time.
I had a midwife appointment earlier in the week and she had trouble finding the heartbeat on the doppler, so I got a sneak peek ultrasound that you see above in this post. 🙂 Baby’s little heartbeat was flickering away and everything looks good! All 4 of my kids were with me, which was a lot of fun. My daughter was hoping we would find out the gender at the appointment, and was disappointed that it is still too early. 🙂
I’m only up .4 pounds, so not too bad so far! I have traditionally gained between 42-50 pounds with each pregnancy, so we will see how this plays out. I’ve considered trying a different way of eating this time to see if it makes a difference, but since food is so weird for me right now, I haven’t looked too hard into that plan.
I have been going to the bathroom a little more than normal. At my first appointment, they found that I had GBS cultures already in my urine sample, so I took a round of antibiotics for that. Yuck. I had this problem last pregnancy too. It’s weird, because I went the first 3 pregnancies with no sign, and now it’s just running rampant. I know it’s perfectly normal, but during pregnancy it makes things a little more complicated.
My first trimester is quickly zooming by, and I’ll head into the second trimester. I’m hoping for that renewed energy and appetite!
