I’ll be 16 weeks in a few minutes, so I thought it was time to do another pregnancy update!
I’ve had a midwife visit since my last update. I’ve gained a total of 2.9 pounds so far. They had trouble finding the heartbeat at the appointment, just like last time. I still find this interesting since I have no trouble finding it at home…but they look for it low, near my pelvic bone, and I look for it about 3 finger-widths below my belly button and get it within seconds. Anyway, the heartbeat has been good, around the high 150s.

I’ve also been going to a chiropractor. At my last appointment, I got a 1 hour massage first and then the adjustment. She’s doing some ligament work on me, which was painful while she was doing it. I think it’ll be worth it, though, as it’s so important to have good positioning which relies SO much on the anatomical structure of the mom and all of her insides. 😉
I feel like I’m stinking huge. When I wrote my 12 week update, I was wearing regular jeans. Now I’m squarely outfitted in maternity pants and shorts. I’m not too worried about it, because I totally find them comfy! I like the full belly ones that have the belly band material. It’s a step up from the older style ones with the full cotton pouch and uncomfortable elastic top. 😉
I borrowed most of my last pregnancy’s wardrobe, but I have purchased almost everything for this one either new or from a local trade facebook group. I haven’t spent much, and feel like I’ve spent less on my WHOLE wardrobe than many women do on 3-4 pieces. I just can’t see spending $40 on a pair of jeans or $30 on a shirt. No thanks!
So far, so good with the nausea going away. I still feel a bit queasy if I take an afternoon nap. When I wake up, I feel gross. Other than that, I haven’t felt sick to my stomach for at least a week now. My appetite is back to normal and I’m craving carbs constantly. I’m able to stomach drinking water again – yay!! I’ve been drinking plenty of water and it feels nice to be able to also handle taking prenatals and probiotics more regularly. Whew.
I have an ultrasound scheduled for June 23rd. That’ll be the thorough anatomical screener, and we might be able to find out the gender. I sure hope so! My midwife wanted me to get in the week of June 9th, so when the sonogram place scheduled me later, I have to admit that Grace and I were both bummed. I will probably bring her with me and have Ross keep the boys at home while working from home that morning. I hope so anyway! I’d love to be able to share the news with them all right away and in person.
As far as the due date goes, the midwives are going by my LMP, which is 6 days behind what the early ultrasound dated me as… so according to them, I’m more like 15 weeks. However, I don’t think that’s accurate because I did have weird bleeding a few times before the positive pregnancy test. I guess we’ll see when we have the other ultrasound… The midwife said that if the due date changes dramatically, they’ll change my chart, but until then, they’re going by a due date of November 8th (while I maintain it is November 2). I’m not going to really fight it or anything, though, since I tend to go late by a few days anyway. It may end up “buying me time”, even though I don’t foresee it really being a problem.
I will keep y’all posted on anything else that happens! I can’t wait to see how this pregnancy is going to be different from my others. 🙂
SO so glad the nausea is going away for you. With my only pregnancy, the nausea lasted 5 months…..even with Zofran. It was rough (maybe why I never had a second child – LOL)

Looking good. Glad that you’re taking care of yourself, especially now that you’re pregnant. Going to a chiropractor is indeed a good choice.
