Today was so exhausting, but remarkably nice. I woke up way too early after going to bed way too late… What’s new about that? 😉
This post will be boring for most of you, but here’s a day in the life of me today. Not really a typical Saturday, but we don’t HAVE a typical ANY day, so… in that way, maybe this is super typical after all. 🙂
My kiddos all woke up too early, too, so we ate some breakfast and Grace and I got ready for the day. She became my tagalong for the day.
We went and picked up our very last batch of Girl Scout Cookies to fill orders for our troop, went to a town about 20 minutes away to pick up a ridiculously awesome deal on nursing tanks from a mom in a local swap group (13 tanks for $50!), wandered to Target for some jewelry and hair mascara….
Then we headed back near home to an ice skating rink for a Girl Scout event to celebrate the 100th anniversary. This was Grace’s very first time out on the ice and it was really fun to see her out there. She was surprisingly good at it for her very first time – and totally brave to get out there and bust her butt. 😉 She kept desperately trying to get one of those old lady granny walker things to “help” her, but the workers kept encouraging her to go without because she totally could do it but was just being silly.
Afterward, we went to Applebee’s with some friends, ran into a Dallas Cowboy, and ate way too much food.
Once I got home, I had to unload the cookies and my loot from the day and hubs decided to go out and hang with friends for the rest of the afternoon…. it’s about 1am and he’s still out there, so I guess he’s having a good time.
When he’s not here, the kids and I get allll off schedule. They ended up going to bed about 2 hours late tonight. On the bright side, I sort of made them clean, plus I actually made them a meal and bathed them before bed…. I might be tempted to go to bed, but I actually took a late afternoon nap while I plopped them in front of the TV (They’ve hardly had any screentime all week, so I don’t feel too bad!) to watch a movie… so now I’m not tired. I am just large, pregnant, and full of heartburn. Boo!
My sweet kiddos were so precious today. Grace is growing up so fast and speaks like a little grown up. She says some of the cutest things and has so many hopes and dreams. It’s cool to see how much effort she puts into her various endeavors and to see what a social butterfly she has become. Take that, homeschool haters. 😉 She is plenty socialized!!
Heath hardly let me out the door this morning and barely let me lay down for a nap because he was so busy kissing and hugging me. He is such a little love bug and when he chooses to be super sweet, he is SOOOO super sweet. Full on hugs, eyes closed, mouth in a huge toothy grin… Cute little puckered up lips with eyebrows up in anticipation. Mmm mmm – it is heavenly.
Michael is so eager to please and such a great story teller. He loves to show off when he does something unique and loves declaring how many hugs and kisses he has made for me. He is so sweet and so loving toward his siblings and is just such a sweet, unique personality. I don’t really know how to properly describe him because I’ve never met anyone else like him. He’s just such a joy.
Laying down with them at bedtime is such a nice reminder of what blessings they are. Let’s face it, they are far more angelic at night when they are still and their soft little breaths and the ceiling fan are the only noises in the house. 🙂 With the undoubted chaos that will describe life with these 3 and a newborn in a few weeks, I’m trying to relish in these peaceful moments.
