Life is moving by at a quick pace. If you take too long to blink, it’ll pass you right by!
This is why I have decided to start doing “Reflective Ramblings” on the blog. I won’t say it’ll be a weekly, or even monthly, feature, but I do want to regularly take some time to reflect. If nothing else, it’ll be something for me to look back on to remember a little snippet of time in my life.
Reflective Ramblings
- I cut my kids’ hair today. I love doing this. Not only did I likely save at least $30+tips, but I also got to spend that time bonding with my littles.
- We had to deal with bullying last weekend. There are some kids in the neighborhood that picked on my daughter a lot last weekend.

Make brownies, not war!
She actually hid in our backyard and they stood outside the gate saying, “If she tries to come out – CHARGE!” Instead of being all Mama Bear on them, I tried to work it out through taking care of my sweet girl and empowering her to make good choices. It’s been a great lesson, and she has a lot more confidence now. She realizes that their bullying is not about her, but is really their own issues coming out in an ugly way.
- I am so thankful I put my oldest son in karate.
He has been coming up with all sorts of cool moves, and he’s been using more precision. It’s awesome to see him come up with combos.
He recently lost his very first tooth. He is getting so big!
- I’ve challenged my husband. Well, I’ve challenged myself, too.
The challenge is to initiate and show at least 3 forms of affection every day. It can be a hug, a quick squeeze on the shoulder, holding hands, or whatever. This is helping us to stay connected, even on the busies of days. I love it, and so does he! We usually go way over, but having a starting goal has done wonders for us. - My baby is so adorable. He has picked up signing “more” again, and he is the master at puckering his lips up for a kiss.
I was taking him upstairs to go to bed a few nights ago, and he wildly started yelling, pointing toward our office, doing the “more” sign, and doing his kissy lips. He was seriously throwing this little fit because he wanted to give his daddy more kisses before bed! MELT.MY.HEART. - Four is so much better than three. No, I’m not talking about number of children (though I DO love having my 4!), I’m talking about the age.
I forgot how much of a difference it is having a 4 year old rather than a 3 year old. It’s like a switch has been flipped. My 4 year old son is so much sweeter, more endearing, and hasn’t peed his pants once since turning 4. Yay! - Working out rocks. I have been working out 4-5 times a week and it feels SO good!
I’ve been primarily doing zumba, but on Mondays there isn’t one that fits into my schedule, so I’ve checked out a few different classes. Joining the gym was the best investment I’ve made in a REALLY long time! Free childcare? Ohhhh yeah.
What’s happened with you this week?
What do you have to ramble about? 🙂
