I’m thrilled to have Penelope stop by with a guest post today!! Thank you so much for dropping by ad sharing your awesome tips on how to have fun during a second pregnancy! 🙂
When I was expecting my son, my husband and I were filled with excitement. Our days were filled with planning, reading pregnancy books outlining what to expect each month, figuring out how to create space and baby proof our apartment, thinking of baby names, and much more- a flurry of excitement. With subsequent pregnancies, the excitement tends to wane for many couples who know what to expect and are already busy with a previous child (or children).
Many feel guilty for not having as much attention to focus on second and third pregnancies, but they shouldn’t, it’s normal. Instead, find ways to be excited and include your other children in the excitement. Here are five ways to have fun during a second pregnancy:
1. Create memories for your new baby. Make a scrapbook, and add in your pregnancy photos and sonogram photos. Let your children write the soon-to-be born baby special messages. You likely created a scrap book or memory book for your first child, so make it a priority to make one for baby #2 as well.
2. Get your child excited about their new sibling. Tell them how important and necessary they will be. Ask them to help you pick a name for the new baby, and to choose nursery items.
3. Reconnect with your husband, spend quality time together, be excited to be a couple who is expecting an additional blessing and who are also lucky enough to have each other.
4. Get together with your friends who are also expecting, especially those who are pregnant for the first time, so you can get excited together. Plan together, share wisdom and war stories, trade maternity clothes, and compare your beautiful bellies!
5. Take care of yourself! Eat healthy, stay fit, and treat yourself to manicures or whatever makes you feel good, so that once baby is born you’ll find it’s much easier to get back in shape after having your baby. You’ll feel less nervous about each baby you have if you know you’ll still be a hot mama afterwards.
There are many ways to happily anticipate future babies, despite being busier than you were the first time around. You can read about my family life at my site Penelope’s Oasis as we await our second baby as well. Thanks to my friend Jenn for inviting me to guest post, and congratulations to everyone expecting!
