Sid the Science Kid is going to be kicking off a great week-long Earth Day celebration next week and I couldn’t wait to tell you about it!!  We were able to snag a sneak-peek copy of the wonderful episodes that will be airing on PBS and we really loved them!  We used them as our science lessons the last few days and it’s incredible what kids pick up from this show!

 My kids were telling me all about where water comes from and why we should conserve it.  My 4 year old was telling me all about insect habitats – his own words!  I’m impressed for sure. 🙂

“Sid the Science Kid,” the half-hour animated series that inspires preschoolers to discover their world, is celebrating Environment & Habitat Week April 18-22!
With four episodes commemorating Earth Day, Sid and his friends find the answers to these questions about water, clean air, trash and trees:

What happens to water that goes down the drain?
Why does Sid‘s dad wear a mask when he paints?
Where does trash go when you throw it away?
Can an old stump be a home for tiny creatures? Sid would love for you to celebrate Earth Day with him!  Check your local PBS listings.

    We will be celebrating Earth Day by recycling even more than we already do, cleaning up the garden and taking all the junk to the recycling tip instead of letting it all pile up. A good time to have a clear out too, and take anything we no longer use to the charity shop.

    We reduce reuse and recycle (mainly recycle) by taking all of our plastics and paper products to be recycled every few weeks. It’s my job to make sure everyone is recycling and to keep it organized.

    in our neighbor city is each year a big Eco Fair on earth day – it will be fun for the kids and a load of ideas on how to become green and resourceful for us

    We have recycling in our city. We reuse as much as possible (packaging, scrap paper, etc) and we also cloth diaper/wipe to reduce our contributions to landfills.

    We went to an Earth Day program and walked around our neighborhood picking up trash. This weekend we will start our garden and attend some nature programs. We also do lots of eco-friendly things like compost, recycle, etc.

    Our family has Earth Day every day. We recycle, reuse, and donate all gently worn clothing, toys and books. My husband is even teaching our 1 year old to put his disposable dinner bowls in the recycle bin 🙂

    What does my little one like best? Sid is only his favorite show of all time. lol Today I had to play the “Changes” video 3 times in a row.

    Earth Day in our community will take place on April 30. We’ll first head over to the Earth Day Fair for a couple of hours. We don’t have any real plans after that – the fair will have plenty of volunteer opportunities for us to choose from for the afternoon and the following Sunday. We’re going to let my 13 y.o. son choose what we sign up for this year!
