Our latest review product is a family favorite. We were able to use the new Thin Stix Creativity Pack from The Pencil Grip, Inc., which my kids were quite enthusiastic about.
My children love to do arts and crafts, but I hate dealing with the mess. With 5 kids, it can get out of control! That’s why I love these Thin Stix products. You’ve probably seen my review for them in the past, or for the shorter and fatter version, Kwik Stix. Thin Stix are a fabulous paint solution for children of all ages (3 and up is specifically listed on the box) that eliminates messy, drippy paint.

These guys work just like crayons or markers to use. The Thin Stix are tall and have a good size tip that is great for coloring large objects, or for writing words with a good level of precision and control. As your children use the colors and need more, they simply twist it up to reveal more paint. They last a very long time, in our experience.
The Creativity Pack includes 24 assorted colors. It has their 12 classic colors, 6 neon colors, and 6 Metalix. When you’re using them, they dry within 90 seconds. This is the key to their WOW factor for me! I no longer have to clear off all of my counters to make room for the little art creations of all of my children, waiting hours for them to dry. They’re basically instantly ready for the kids to hang up, hand out, and enjoy.

Last week, we unexpectedly found ourselves in the market for a new vehicle. We went in to get some repairs made on our van as we had encountered vehicle trouble while on a little staycation. We were expecting it to take a few hours, but once it was decided that we’d look at vehicles, those few hours turned into over eight hours with all 5 kids in tow. They were surprisingly good sports about it, but past their bedtime was when we were loading things from the old van into the new one before we could drive off.
As we were getting ready to go to bed, Heath (my 8 year old) revealed that he had left his wallet with all of his hard-earned money in the old van! I called the salesman, who had been so patient with us, and he decided to head back UP to the dealership to go retrieve the wallet for us. I couldn’t believe it! It was way out of his way after a very long day of work and he chose to help us out anyway.
I could have cried! I told the kids we needed to make some Thank You Cards for this man, stat. I had brought our package of Thin Stix with us and a pack of plain white paper. I knew my kids could be entertained for a long time with these babies, and now I was thrilled we’d decided to bring them. Their colors are so much bolder than crayons and they don’t get totally ruined on the off chance they get a little wet like markers do.

All of my kids, from age 3 all the way to age 12, were able to make beautiful cards for Henry. By the way, did I mention that they used PAINT in a hotel room? That’s right! Even though I knew we were going to be in a hotel room, Thin Stix don’t make me nervous to have on hand because I know that they’re washable and that my kids don’t get super messy while they use them.

As I expected, they were able to spread out and use them how they wanted on a little ottoman/table combo that the hotel had by the pull out couch. It was cool to see how different the cards were that they made. My 5 year old drew a picture of Henry the salesman to give to Henry the salesman. Ha!

My oldest son just wrote him a note to say thank you. My daughter drew a cute picture in the front and wrote a nice long thank you inside. The 3 year old scribbled, but it was vibrant and cute anyway! Heath, the dude with the missing wallet, did a combination picture with words card.

I never imagined this is how we would be using our Thin Stix in the hotel room, honestly. I thought that we would just be drawing pictures for fun. Fortunately, they were the perfect coloring tools for our cards of gratitude to a gentleman that really went that extra mile for our family.

We’ve used our Kwik Stix and Thin Stix on many surfaces in the past. We’ve made rock pets, drawn on poster boards, and even colored a few pumpkins with them. Anywhere you would use regular tempera paint, you can use Thin Stix with NO drips and NO long drying times. This massive variety package is perfect for kids who prefer certain shades, like my 5 year old who hoards all of the greens every time!

It’s also great for different effects, like if you’re wanting to go all out neon or use the Metalix. These will last your family a long time, even when you use them a lot!

These are truly my favorite arts and crafts supplies for my kids. They’re simple to use, affordable, last forever, and allow my kids to PAINT without me pulling my hair out worrying about the mess. They’re the perfect paint!
