Why We Love Strawberry Shortcake (and a giveaway!!)

As a child, one of my FAVORITE shows ever was Strawberry Shortcake.  I cannot be the only one that religiously sniffed my Strawberry Shortcake doll dozens of times a day because she smelled like Strawberries. 😉 I would watch the show, play with my dolls, and beg for character merchandise at every turn!  Oh how I loved her and all of her deliciously named friends.  YUM!

When I had a daughter, I knew we were in for it… I knew we’d have a “princess” and that she’d want all of the sweet girly character dolls, shows, clothes, and dress up stuff.  I saw that they had given Strawberry a makeover since my own childhood and I was skeptical.  This was NOT the Strawberry Shortcake *I* knew and loved!
Well then we all got sucked into Strawberry Shortcake – The Sweet Dreams Movie.  Grace was around 2 or 3 when we watched it for the first time.  First, we borrowed it from the library, but after being about 2 weeks overdue, we knew we just had to buy our own copy.  Everybody found themselves singing the songs around the house.  Yes, even my husband.  When we’d tell my daughter goodnight, we’d single a little jingle of the signature song, “Sweet dreams” before we left the room.  Yes, we’re dorks.

Imagine my excitement when I found out that a new Strawberry Shortcake movie is coming out!  We always anticipate the new ones and this time is no exception!  This one is called Strawberry Shortcake: Puttin on the Glitz and it is coming out March 22nd!

Fabulous new fashions, sparkling musical ‘Glamicures’ and delightful new ‘Dos’ have Strawberry and her friends ‘Puttin’ on the Glitz’!  But all that dazzles quickly unravels with a misunderstanding until the girls find creative and kind ways to be honest with their feelings and with their friends. It’s heart-to-heart makeover magic as the girls learn that nothing looks as beautiful as friendship feels!

My daughter and I are excited and can’t wait to get our copy!!  I love these shows even still! 🙂
