I recently found out about Wish Upon a Hero on the Blogging Texas forum.

Wish Upon a Hero is an organization where you can ask for a wish to be granted or you can grant the wish(es) of people that have posted. The wish might be something as simple as a card for their sick child’s birthday or as complicated as needing a place to stay or assistance with bills or gift cards for groceries.
You can search the wishes needing to be granted. A feature I like is that you can search for local wishes if you want! I typed in my city and state and found a few local folks that could use a hand.
Another feature I liked was that you could see on the person’s posting how many wishes THEY have granted and how many wishes they have had filled in the past. I like that it’s being counted and that everyone is held accountable for their site activity on there.
I thought I’d pass this along in case you were interested! It’s a great website and a great way to get connected to bless others or ask for a helping hand. There really is no need to wait until the holidays to help people out that are in a hard spot. The needs on here range from small, minor requests to much larger, involved (and expensive) wishes. There really is a way for anyone with any sort of gifting budget to help out.
I like the idea of being able to hand-pick where my donations will go. This is a great way to relate the needs and how to fulfill them with my children to teach them about selfless acts and making contributions to others. They are always hoping to make the world a better place, and Wish Upon a Hero really hit the nail on the head with that one! I may start seeing if they want to donate any of their allowance to help others out. (This would be totally optional, of course!) There are even wishes for birthday or get well cards. Anyone can do that!
