One of the questions posed in the 30 Things My Kids Should Know About Me writing prompt series is, “What’s your favorite quality in your spouse?” I’d like to answer this one, because, frankly, this won’t take me too long to type out. 🙂
My husband and I have known each other for 14 years, and we’ll celebrate our 12th anniversary next month. He’s always been a good match for me, and this has gotten truer as time has gone on.
Honestly, when we met, I was this crazy, erratic, impulsive, know it all teen that he apparently found irresistible. We got married young. I was 18, he was 22. No one really “got” it – including us, but we felt like it was the right thing to do. People kept asking the rudest question ever, “Are you pregnant? If you are, you don’t have to get married!”
No, rude jerks, I was not pregnant. In fact, I saved myself for marriage, thankyouverymuch, but I appreciate your judgement, really.
Okay, back to the question at hand: My Favorite Quality Found In My Hubster.
Honestly? Patience.
This man is SO INCREDIBLY PATIENT. Like I said, I was quite the ‘catch’ back then. I was a little on the crazy side, and definitely overly opinionated. Not only all of that, but I had explosive anger, and would get physically violent. Yes, really. Ugh.
Through it all, he has seen me through everything, accepted my flaws, and stuck right by me. I’ve even become much more laid back. I’m not a stinkin’ know-it-all now. I totally own up to my mistakes, and I don’t interject with my opinions a lot of the time. I’ve become a better listener. I’ve become more patient.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not perfect and neither is he. All I know is that he’s made me a better person and I love his patience. 🙂 It not only helps me, but it’s great for our kids.
My kids love hanging out with their dad. Even though it seems to almost kill him, he is so patient with them and spins each of them (yes, all 4) what seems like a billion times each. He spins them around to the point that I get dizzy just watching and have to just leave them to it!!
He rarely loses his temper over anything kid related, and when he makes mistakes, he’s good about apologizing quickly. Really, my hubby has a lot of great qualities (and a few not-so-great, but that’s not the focus of this post!) that we enjoy in our household.
He’s a great provider, can be a good listener, is slow to anger, is laid back, gives up personal time for family responsibilities and leisure activities, is dependable, has an open mind, and pretty much goes along with whatever schemes the kids and I come up with.
I win.

Such a sweet post, thanks for sharing, I think I’ll come up with my own list of all the things I love about my hubs. 🙂
