Halloween is coming up quickly! The stores are already putting out tons of decorations, candies, and costumes. It seems like they get more elaborate every year.
I am already getting prepared. I’ve picked up my huge variety packs of Hershey candies (located right in the front of my local Walmart store), and I have a few simple supplies to make my celebration a little bit spookier. The best part is that I can stick to a budget and still look like the cool mom.
I like to make things easy on myself and rely on a super simple Halloween hack or two to make sure that party guests or trick or treaters have fun without stressing me out.
Super Simple Halloween Hack {Ghosts}
If you’re short on time, money, or both, try this easy trick out! Grab a black permanent marker and turn ordinary favor bags or drinking cups into spooky ghosts.
Grab your supplies. (White or clear cups and treat bags and a black permanent marker)
Draw some eyes. (Mine always end up looking like beans or commas. Just go with it.)
Add a big, spooky mouth.
Give your ghosts a cute little nose. (This is optional, but I hear it helps the ghosts sniff out scaredy cats.)
Be sure to fill your treat bags with lots of delicious candy and other treats. I used white Kit Kat bars to give my favor bags more of a ghost-like appearance. If you use white bags, you can fill it up with whatever you want and it will keep its creepy appearance.
As for the cup, I like filling it with a red or green beverage. Spook your friends by freezing tiny plastic spiders or flies into ice cubes and throw a couple in the cup. Icky!
You can use this same trick with empty milk jugs. Half gallon or full gallon containers will work. For extra credit, cut out the mouth and you can turn it into a fun candy dispenser to leave on your porch if you won’t be home to hand out reats to trick or treaters.
Bring on the CANDY
Halloween candy is always a must, and I was able to find the BIG bags of Hershey’s candies at Walmart. These huge bags are perfect for trick or treating and Halloween parties because you just have to grab a few and you are done! The bags are even decorated with festive characters like monsters or vampires, so you could easily just give candies out straight from the bag.
Really, though, be sure to grab a few bags so you’re prepared. Trust me, it’s no fun being the house that runs out by 8pm. My favorites are the Kit Kat bars, which is why I like to give these away first to party guests or trick or treaters. The faster I can share them, the less I want to stash away for myself!
They also have an exclusive orange Reese’s at Walmart that says BOO on it! Those are my husband’s favorite. I guess you really can’t go wrong with peanut butter and chocolate, right?
I got the Kit Kat/Reese’s Miniatures Variety Bag and the Hershey Green Monster Variety Bag, both of which were just $14.94 each. That’s a lot of candy!
Which Hershey’s Halloween candy is YOUR favorite?
How many bags do you plan on buying to make sure you are ready for the festivities?

Easy peasy and economical crafts always get my vote. My challenge would be not eating the candy as I fill the bags!

So clever and cute!! Your “just go with it” comment about the eyes made me laugh. PS I think they’re very nice ghost eyes!
