There are so many reason to get your kids outside to play. Not only will they get some fresh air and sunshine, but they are tempted to run around and challenge themselves physically!
When my kids go out to play, they want to do fun things that are a little unconventional. They often make up little games to play with each other to get their mind off of the weather and enjoy the outdoors. They’re never complicated and really only use a few common items.

Here are 4 Fun Outdoor Games for Kids that my own kids came up with and love to do! I’ve included some videos and pictures of them so your kids can watch them and try it out, too.
Do you like to record your kids playing fun games? If so, read on below to find out how your child can look like a super hero in a fun new contest by Fruit Shoot!
4 Fun Outdoor Games for Kids
1. Pound to the Ground
For this one, you’ll need any standing object (we used several Fruit Shoot bottles) and some balls. We also used a bowl with a flat bottom turned upside down as a platform for it since we were playing in the grass.
My son wanted to make this a timed competition, and he wanted to play against his own best time. You could also play against opponents to see who can knock down each of the bottles fastest.
2. Halloween (or any time) Relay Race
This Relay Race is so much fun! Check out the link to see how to play. My kids came up with it at Halloween with me, but it could be a year round game easily!
You really just need a roll of toilet paper, a bucket or a bag, some candies or treats, a pumpkin (or other object to decorate), a permanent marker, and something to mark your finish line (we used sidewalk chalk).
3. Whack a Ball
This game is a lot of fun if you have several different balls and some drink bottles to use. Toss your ball up into the air and whack it with a bottle! We used Fruit Shoot bottles.
It’s your choice whether you want to try and hit the ball the farthest or hit all of the balls you have the fastest, or challenge yourself however you want! This can be played solo or with a partner. It could even be a group game, hitting the ball to each other until someone misses. Try it with different sizes of balls and different bottle “bats” to mix it up even more.
Here’s my daughter playing Whack a Ball by herself:
4. Eliminate the Enemy
My 4 year old really likes this game. It really is so simple. Just line up a bunch of objects (we used Fruit Shoot bottles), grab a few balls, and have fun knocking everything over! You could do this as a battle, side by side against an opponent. It could also be done solo, like he did. You could even play as a team.
Stay Hydrated!
Don’t forget to stay hydrated. My kids like to drink Fruit Shoot because it tastes good and has a sports top, which they love. It doesn’t have any high fructose corn syrup, which is refreshing to me! It’s a fun alternative to water, and tastes great.
The Have a Ball Stunt Hunt from Fruit Shoot

Competition details straight from Fruit Shoot: The ‘Have a Ball Stunt Hunt’ competition is a great demonstration of Fruit Shoot’s commitment to imaginative play and has a reward that is priceless. Here’s how it works:
1. Visit the contest homepage to upload a video of your kids showing off their best tricks, stunts, and super-cool abilities with a Fruit Shoot bottle and any ball. To qualify, please make sure your video is under 30 seconds. Check out the stunt video we have already souped-up for inspiration!
2. Share your video with friends and family and encourage them to vote for your video.
3. Every week, we’ll chose a winning video, give it the full-on Hollywood special effects treatment, and release it on our contest homepage for the world to see!
Entrants will receive a free bottle of Fruit Shoot when entering the contest. Entrants will also receive a Waboba ball anytime they buy 6 bottles of Fruit Shoot in-store.
We Entered!
You can check out my little guy’s entry (and like it!) by going to the Gallery and choosing the submission by jennsraq entitled “Quick Handed”. It was easy to shoot the video and enter, share, and like all from my cell phone. The whole thing just took a few minutes, and now we’re in the running to have it turned into a super cool video that he’ll be psyched to star in!
See all the rules on the Have a Ball Stunt Hunt page. Ends September 1, 2014. This is a fun way to get the kiddos active and have them show us all what they’ve got!
Although Fruit Shoot sponsored this post, the fun and ideas were genuine and all our own!
