A while back, I tried a new Vegan, Gluten-Free lip glaze product from Monave.
Monave Lip Glaze is a silky, natural lip product that adds a bit of shine, some sheer color that is perfect for a relaxed look. It is completely free of irritants, and preservatives, abiding by the philosophy that makeup should have organic food-based ingredients. Luscious coconut oil and natural orange flavor give slip, and shine without being sticky. Pigments are 100% naturally derived minerals.
They have many different colors and the product line seems extensive.
I really wanted to love this product. Truth be told, lip products ARE my *thing*… LOVE them. I almost always have a minimum of 7 lip products in my purse at all times and if I don’t have my purse, it’s in my pocket! I really wanted to enjoy this new lip glaze… It pains me to write a not-so-great review. 🙁
The product was difficult to get out of the applicator. It has a standard lip gloss wand applicator, but the product just wouldn’t stick to the spongy tip much at a time to be able to apply it well. The pigment in the gloss seemed to slide down to the bottom part of my lip, leaving that part very lightly pigmented and the rest of my lip just clear and kind of greasy. I didn’t like how it felt on at all.
Here are the ingredients and this explains the yuck texture, IMO:
Lip Glaze: Base Ingredients: Castor Oil, Castor Wax, Jojoba Oil, Carnauba Wax, Vitamine E (rice-based), Rasberry Oil. Color Ingredients: Mica, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide, may contain Manganese Violet.
If you are vegan and you are looking for good products, I’d probably advise against this particular product. It is nice to know there is the option, though, and their other products may be marvelous! I just can’t recommend this one from my own experience with it.
I was told I would be sent a different product to review since I really didn’t want to leave a bad review on this, but I still haven’t received one so I’m going ahead and posting this review. If I do get another one to review in the future, I’ll certainly let you know how I like that product!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com created by WebBizIdeas a Minneapolis SEO and Web Design firm. Wow, they really should have sent you another product fast. Guess they were not very concerned.
i dont understand why their description talks about coconut oil (super great stuff) yet their ingredients does not have it listed at all. Last time I checked, Castor oil and coconut oil were not the same thing. lol
If you click on that link, coconut as well as orange oil are not mentioned anywhere…. It’s unfortunate this glazes did not work for you but I Adore them, ESP the sheer glazes….gorgeous!
The description about the coconut and orange oil were given to me directly from the company during this sampling. I didn’t make it up, it was straight from them. I was looking forward to it until I received and then realized it was caster oil. Ick. Any mama that has heard of/used caster oil to kick-start labor would probably do a collective shudder with me when thinking about slathering that on their lips. lol
