It seems like everyone is coming up with some sort of power word for the new year. I’ve never done it before, but I think it’s time to at least try. 🙂 My word for this year is accomplish.
You see, I’m totally ADD. Well, I was diagnosed as a child, but I’ve not been treated for it for 15 years or so. I just deal with it, because it mostly just means I buy 16 cookbooks and some kitchen utensils and then lose interest and start going out to eat instead. It also means that I’ll plan out an entire year’s curriculum for a subject, spending 10 hours and several sheets of paper and even type it up, only to decide that I don’t really want to teach that subject this year anyway.
It makes me sad to feel like a flake. I hate feeling like I can’t ever just stinking finish something! No, I want to ACCOMPLISH what I set forth to do. I would love for 2015 to be the year that I rock at the follow-through. (That was my original word choice, but it didn’t sound as powerful.)
This isn’t to say that I’ll necessarily follow through and accomplish everything I start this year. If it’s not worth my time, even if I’ve invested something into it already, then it’s obviously okay to cut my losses.
However, I do think that if I’m going to join a Diet Bet (ahem – I’ve joined 2 and another, smaller weight loss challenge), or I’m going to choose to homeschool my children this academic year, or if I have a goal to blog 3 times a week, or if I want to be more purposeful with the time I spend with my kids, I need to make an effort and ACCOMPLISH those goals.
I would love to hear what your word is for 2015!
How are you going to change things for the better?

Awesome post! Love your word and I think I could use some accomplishing as well, my goal for the New Year is to slow down and enjoy my 3 boys!

Oh my goodness, I can relate so much! I have SPD, which as an adult, is often misdiagnosed as ADD and OCD (yes, together – I like things neat but can’t focus to keep it that way!) This is an amazing word for 2015. I pray you have a blessed year!

I hope your year is awesome as well. I totally get you – it’s hard to keep things JUST SO when you can’t focus. lol
