Being Ethan’s mom has been pretty great so far. From giving birth to my 11 pound VBAC baby 5 months ago, to sleeping through every night because he hardly makes a peep, and now getting to watch him explore and actually play, it’s been busy but good!
He is 21 pounds and 27″ long. That puts him in the upper end of the percentile charts for height, and right off the chart for weight. He is a big boy for sure! I’m so glad that he is so full of rolls and dimples and squishy soft baby skin. He’s just perfect.
Ethan is loving chewing and sucking on his thumb (and sometimes his whole hand), but not to go to sleep. It’s mainly just for fun while he is awake.
He has a sunny disposition, but gets really upset when he is ignored or “forgotten” about. He still wants to be held a lot, but now we are also using the exersaucer and a little walker with a few toys on it. He likes holding on to things and reaches for everything.
Ethan still hasn’t had any food besides breastmilk. I did buy a few containers of Stage 1 baby foods last week, but we probably won’t start on anything for another month. I like to wait until 6 months to get started. I actually prefer to just feed foods from the table, so the baby food is more for the older kids since they seem to think babies need pureed food. I know that the other kids never liked mushy baby food. They preferred table foods right from the start. We’ll see what Ethan is into!!
We’re still getting lots of sleep at night. Luckily, Charlie has stopped coming into our room at all hours, so we are ALL getting rest throughout the entire night. Thank goodness! Ethan usually nurses once or twice during the night, or at least nurses to sleep and upon waking.
He loves to hear me sing. It makes him happy to hear music, and he seems to like the songs with silly hand movements. I have gotten pretty good at “Itsy Bitsy Spider” these days.
I’ll keep you guys updated on how he grows and changes. Be sure to follow me on Instagram for even more.
That’s it for now!
