School is officially back in session, and we were able to test drive the 2016 Lexus LX570 so we could roll around town in style. My kids couldn’t wait for me to move their carseats and boosters over to this new vehicle so we could give it a whirl for a week.
This family vehicle seats 8 with a power folding third row for anyone that doesn’t need all of the seats, but wants a ton of cargo space in the back. Look at the gorgeous details in the interior. I felt like a princess driving this thing around. There were plenty of ways to adjust the seats and steering wheel so I could be comfortable in such a large vehicle even though I’m a short lady myself. My husband was then able to completely change it to fit him best, which can be hard when you’re 6’2″! He loved that he had plenty of headroom while driving.
It was a fun ride taking the kids to their back to school activities. My daughter, Grace, told me that she loved the leather seats. She also mentioned how nice the air conditioning worked in the second and third rows. She’s ridden in other vehicles where the air just didn’t circulate well back there, but she said that it was very comfortable and cool, making it perfect for toting kids around.
I felt very safe driving the Lexus LX 570. This SUV has a lot of safety features that impressed me, so I felt safer driving around with my family in tow. All seats had the 3-point seatbelt system. There were front and 2nd row seat-mounted side airbags, as well as roll-sensing cutain side airbags.
I also loved the All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. This came in handy when I went on a bit of a road trip in the Lexus. I was able to set my cruise control, and it would automatically sense a vehicle going slower than me, and when I would get too close to it, the SUV would automatically slow down for me. Then, when I would get into the passing lane, it would automatically speed back up to my cruise control-set speed. This was one of my favorite features!
Alright, let’s get real here. The BEST feature, according to my children, was the Add-on Entertainment System Option that this vehicle came equipped with. The Mark Levinson Audio System offered sharp sound, and we were able to play our CDs and DVDs with the utmost clarity.
Speaking of DVDs, the Dual-Screen DVD Rear-Seat Entertainment System fulfilled all of my kids’ dreams. From the wireless headphones to the remote control, to the fact that there were TWO screens, this made each of our rides very entertaining.
My kids are now begging me to get a similar entertainment system in our regular vehicle because they didn’t realize how awesome this could be in a vehicle. One of my sons actually told me that he didn’t know that regular people could even GET this kind of system in their cars. He thought it was something you only got to do if you had millions of dollars. Kids say the darndest things.
The Lexus LX570 is absolutely loaded with standard features. Some of our favorites were the Rain-sensing Variable Intermittent Wipers, the Leather and Genuine Wood-Trimmed Interior, and the Power Sliding 2nd-row seat. That came in handy when we had to adjust everything when I moved the kids around a few times during our week with the vehicle.
Also, I loved being able to easily control the climate all throughout the vehicle. When the kids weren’t around, I was able to turn off the air conditioning in the back, and when they were in the back, I was able to adjust every aspect of their climate controls. There’s even an ECO option and an AUTO function to make it easy and convenient to use.
Did you see that adorable (okay, okay, CLASSY) clock that was perched above the controls? It’s so fun and takes it a step above the normal digital clocks that seem to be the norm these days. It gave me a fun excuse to quiz my kids on reading time from an “old fashioned” clock. Win!
Even with the third row in use, I was impressed with the amount of storage capacity in the back of the LX570. Look at that handy hatchback opening, too. I loved having that because it never fails that kid stuff comes piling out onto my feet when I open up the back of our vehicle. This made it safer for this clumsy mama to get what I needed in and out of the back without worrying about everything sprawling out because I tend to stack things like Jenga is a real-life game and my life depends on it.
Daily Commute
For a daily commute, you’re going to find that this SUV is stocked with tons of features that will help you stay safe and comfortable.
My husband was so pleased with the amount of legroom available. He also mentioned how much he liked the navigation system with voice command.
The interior is comfortable, and there are so many climate options that you can adjust and control to make the environment inside just right.
The engine runs pretty quietly, so you are able to focus on whatever you’d like to listen to, or just enjoy the quiet.
Since it seats up to 8 people, the interior is quite large and roomy, so there’s plenty of space for kids or instruments or sports equipment that you might need to lug around this school year.
Road Trip
There are many things that make this a great road trip vehicle. It drives smoothly, and it has that awesome cruise control I mentioned above. Not only that, but there is Active Traction Control with Multi-Terrain Select and even a Tow Hitch with Ball Mount.
The safety features made me feel really confident driving this around. I love that it’s a taller, bigger vehicle than I’m used to driving, because I felt really secure in it. Keep in mind that this will drive more like a truck than like a sedan, but it’s worth it for all of its awesome features.
Have you ever driven a Lexus LX570?
