As you all know, I was very strictly paleo for a while before I became pregnant. One thing that I found to be a bit of a drag was home prepping so many ingredients all the time for our home-cooked meals. Let’s face it, Paleo eating is just a lot simpler when you do it yourself. Of course, I did come up with some tips for dining out paleo, but it’s so much easier to control the content of your food when you make it yourself.
That said, when Greenling contacted me about reviewing some of their Paleo-friendly options, I was pretty excited to do so! Greenling is a grocery delivery service that provides customers in the Dallas / Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and San Antonio areas with a great source of delicious, nutritious, and often locally-sourced food. From coconut juice to apples to chicken breasts, to specialty cheese, and tons of things in between, they have so many yummy goodies! They even have amazing meal kits which feature all of the ingredients that you need for a recipe, already prepped, with a recipe sheet that is so easy to follow. They basically take care of everything but the cooking.
Greenling Delivers
They deliver the food right to your door in bright green reusable tubs. They use great insulation that is also reusable (think crinkle paper, reflective bags, and frozen bottles of water!) to keep everything nice and cool until you are able to bring it in your house.
In the past, I’ve tried Greenling delivery and knew that the paleo kits and paleo-friendly products would be a winner. I was right. Notice that I bolded that. You know, because I like the sound of it. 🙂
I ordered a good assortment of items, including several Amy & Brian canned coconut juices (WITH PULP!!!), WOW! bites, a Grab & Go Garden Spinach Side Salad, a Grab & Go Seasonal Fruit Salad (small), and the Paleo 3-Meal Kit #5.
My son helped me open the delivery package, and was so excited for me. He said, “Mom, look! They sent you your favorite drinks!” (Only it came out more like, “Mom, dook! Dey sended you yo favowite dinks!” My sweet Heath, still working on his speech…)
Paleo Meal Kits
My camera feature on my phone totally quit working on me when I prepared the meals. Somehow it decided to spaz out every single time I’d grab it and turn it to camera mode. (Luckily, a short time later, it did an Android update and all has been well since, but I was super frustrated!)
Unfortunately for you, that means that you can’t see how amazing the dishes looked or how easy they were to prepare. I will just go ahead and tell you about it, and you can imagine along with me.
The meals included in the Paleo 3-Meal Kit #5 were: Meal 1- General Tso’s Chicken, Meal 2- Chicken Fried Cauliflower “Rice” Meal 3 -Slow Cooker Farmhouse Chicken Soup.
As I mentioned before, EVERYTHING needed for each recipe was included in the delivery, plus the recipes themselves! The vegetables came prepped, everything was portioned out, and it was a real time saver. All ingredients are organic, local, or both. This made making dinner a really easy adventure, which is great when you’re pregnant but still trying to eat right!
I simply checked out the recipe, got the right pots or pans, and incorporated the included ingredients (and a little of my own oil) to prepare the meals. I liked that some of the ingredients included were for use in more than one meal. It’s a very efficient system and made it to where there was absolutely no waste.
Everything tasted so delicious. The recipes in here serve 2 people, so I made these after the kiddos went to bed so they didn’t know what they were missing out on. Sneaky, right? I loved the freshness of the ingredients, and felt good knowing that everything I was consuming was healthy and good for me! This is a great alternative to take out.
Another thing I love about the kit is that it allows me to prepare dishes I wouldn’t normally make without buying a lot of ingredients that I may only use for a single dish. They take the guesswork out of it for you.
They have several Paleo Meal Kits, but they also have other meal kits for other dietary preferences. For example, there are vegan, vegetarian, Engine 2 Diet, and more options available. Individual meal kits can be purchased, and they also have the 3 and 5 meal options as well.
Grab & Go
Greenling has an extensive collection of Grab & Go items as well. There are several paleo-friendly options, like the Grab & Go Garden Spinach Side Salad. It was so good, and the balsamic mustard vinaigrette dressing was very flavorful.
I’m also a real fruit lover, so it comes as no surprise that I loved the seasonal fruit salad! I love that the fruits are not canned or frozen in any way. They are fresh and delivered right to my door. My favorite in this was the pineapple, and it was so ripe and juicy. This was the perfect size for a proper fourth meal.
Paleo eating doesn’t have to break the bank or take a ton of time to prepare. With Greenling, it’s simple to choose healthy foods that are ready to eat or prepare, and that are delivered right to your door. If you’ve been wanting to try going paleo, but the thought of doing all the prep has been holding you back, you might want to give Greenling a shot!
Even if that doesn’t describe you at all, I *know* you’re interested in local, organic grocery and food delivery right to your door. Check them out if you are in the Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, or Houston, Texas areas. Connect with Greenling on Facebook or on Greenling.com.
