I hope you are all having a great weekend. I just wanted to check in since I’ve been a bit scarce. We are having a great time in my household. I’ve been keeping busy with all sorts of stuff, but a big part of my time and thinking has been devoted to my weight loss efforts and trying to keep the family healthy.
I volunteered and picked up some Bountiful Baskets goodies this morning. This is a food co-op and is a terrific way to save a lot of money on nutrient-dense and delicious produce for your family! Each week has a different assortment of fruits and vegetables. It’s always fun trying out new items, too. We’re glad to be participating again for sure.
Another thing I’ve spent a lot of time on has been Team Beachbody doing a 90 day fitness challenge through my online friend (and Beachbody Coach Lisa). I have been doing the Turbo Jam workout for 2 weeks now and I’m already starting to feel better. I also couldn’t help it and measured my wait yesterday and I’m already down 1/2″ there since 13 days ago! The only thing that has changed has been the working out…. I’ve already been eating on a restricted calorie diet.
Speaking of diets, I’m not sure if all of you have heard of MyFitnessPal or not, but I use it and LOVE it. You start out by entering your height and weight, your weight loss goals, and other information and it sets you at a specific calorie goal. Then you track your food and exercise and it factors in a deficit of calories for the week if you are trying to lose weight. So if you are trying to lose one pound a week, it calculates how many calories you should be eating based on your information and takes off 500 calories for day that week to total a 3,500 calorie deficit (which equals one pound of weight loss). When you exercise, it “gives” you calories back to eat since that deficit is already built in. This is a great motivation to workout for me because I get to eat more! 🙂 If you give it a try, find me on there as JennsRAQ.
Another tool I have been trying out has been Weight Loss Guru. It is a 21 day program to help you retrain yourself mentally to break bad habits and really focus on great health. It has been a good fit for me and is easily incorporated into any diet plan or healthy eating style because it is NOT a diet plan. This program truly works on changing your mindset. It uses a great set of interesting, informative, and uplifting videos by Pete Cohen, the creator. If you’re looking for an extra boost to keep you on track, check it out!
That’s it for me. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!
