Hoffbrau Steaks is a yummy steak place that has 6 locations around Texas (mostly in the DFW area). They pride themselves on being the best and make their soups, salads, burgers, ribs, steaks, quail, chicken, and more from scratch and with love. We decided to try out Hoffbrau Steaks at their Dallas West End location.
It was easy to find, and I noticed that it is really close to the Dallas World Aquarium as well. We parked in a paid lot nearby as there really wasn’t much street parking available. On the short walk across the street to the restaurant, there was a charming and friendly vendor selling fresh cut floral bouquets. It was a neat experience just getting there!
Once we got there, we were quickly seated and saw the rustic decor around the restaurant.
Once seated, our server came up and started taking care of us. Since we indicated that it was our first time, he went over the menu with us a bit and made a few recommendations, such as Sal’s Special Ribeye and the No Bull Mushrooms. After debating back and forth, we finally decided to order some Fried Pickles as our appetizer. Oh my gosh. During my last pregnancy, I tried them for the first time at a local dive and crave them all the time now even though I’m not pregnant anymore. YUMMM! These didn’t disappoint and the portion was very generous.
When it was time to order, each of my kids got something different. My daughter chose the Hoffbrau Mac N Cheese, my oldest son picked Corn Dogs, and my 2 year old chose a Cheeseburger. When the food came, I couldn’t believe the portion sizes for the kids! What a great value for the price!

They loved the fries and their meals, and they also loved that it came with dessert – a Blue Bell Push Up. (Do you remember these from when you were a kid?! Talk about a great childhood memory flooding back the moment I saw them eating them!)
I chose to get a salad and it was so large that I actually took most of it home. Okay, I’ll be a little more honest… I am counting my calories and I had saved enough calories so that I could eat the fried pickles and some dessert, but not a lot else… So I ate most of this salad for lunch the following day. That’s their house dressing on the side.
Of course my hubby HAD to get the steak. I tried a bite and it was very tasty! It was cooked exactly to his specifications (medium well) and the mashed potatoes were creamy and rich, too.
So, I mentioned that I saved some calories for dessert. Oh yes, I did. They had Goodnight Cobbler, Banana Pudding, and then what I ordered: Texas Pecan and Chocolate Chip Cobbler. Oh yes, I did order it. It was such a shame (a glorious shame bwahaha) that hubby stuffed himself on his food and that the kiddos had their own desserts. Poor thing, I had to eat the whole thing myself! It was served in a hot cast iron mini skillet and was piping hot with a cool dollop of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream. Heaven.
I hope to go back sometime soon. They have a new location in North Dallas that would be close to where we do other activities during the week, so that would be a good one to try. In addition to this Dallas West End location and the North Dallas location, they also have restaurants in Haltom City, Amarillo, Fort Worth, and Granbury.
