You create a browser that is safe and exciting to use for your child. Even my 2 year old was able to navigate on this system on his own with very little help from me. I just had to show him that he could press an arrow to look at more selections and to press the thing he wanted to do once he found something he liked best.
All 3 of my kids enjoyed Playrific, but I honestly think he liked it most because it gave him a sense of independence. I liked it because I didn’t have to worry about what he was playing with or doing. It made playing on the computer a breeze for him and I didn’t worry that he was reprogramming something or messing around in my file manager. hahaha
This is a great product and they offer a FREE 30 day trial so you can see for yourself what you think! I suggest you try it out. It would make a great gift for any child that has been BEGGING to get online to play on the computer. If you’ve been hesitant due to the scary content available on the web, this is a great alternative and a wonderful way to introduce them to the web.
Growums Garden Kit – $9.99 – Perfect for ages 5-12
Growums is an awesome idea for kids. My 2 and 4 year old LOVE helping with gardening tasks and this kind of a kit makes it easy for them to help out with their older sister. My 6 year old enjoys this as part of her homeschooling. Growums Garden Kits come in 6 different varieties: herb garden, pizza garden, ratatouille garden, salad garden, stir-fry garden, and taco garden.
I love that kids can start their own little garden with a purpose. Kids eat more veggies if they’ve grown them and harvested them by themselves! What a great way to show kids where real food comes from. We love to use gardening to teach about the life cycle of a plant, about vitamins and minerals in our food, and to cover food group study as well. This is a gift that will last for months and will benefit the whole family!
