DIY Chai Frappuccino
To start, you will need 2 tea bags. I used Stash Vanilla Chai Decaf Tea. You’ll also need a cup of the milk of your choice. I used unsweetened almond milk, but you could use cow’s milk, rice milk, half & half, soy milk, coconut milk, or whatever else you like. You’ll also need honey or another sweetener and 1-2 cups of ice.
- 2 chai tea bags
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 1-3 TBSP honey or other sweetener, to taste
- 1-2 cups of ice
Step 1: Make the tea.
You will need to make 1 cup of double strength tea. Use between 6-8 oz of water and 2 tea bags.
Step 2: Stir in the honey.
The key to integrating your honey successfully is to stir it in to your HOT tea. The heat will keep the honey liquid. If you wait and add it in later, it’ll crystallize and might even become a little chunky in the final product. I used about 2 Tablespoons. This is obviously to taste, so adjust as needed for yourself!
Step 3: Combine the ice and milk.
Depending on how icy you want it, use between 1 and 2 cups of ice and 1 cup of the milk of your choice. Pour them in your blender.
Step 4: Pour in the sweetened tea and blend!
I use my Vitamix, which pulverizes all of the ice chunks. Once it is all blended, pour it and enjoy! This makes enough for 2 people, or one mega glass for you to enjoy yourself!
I love that it makes its own little foam. I sprinkled mine with cinnamon to give it a fancy feel.
If your kids are like mine, they’ll want to try some, too. My daughter decided to drink a glass and a half, and her little brother had half a glass as well. This went fast!
Have you ever made your own frappuccino at home?
