I have to say that we had a really great time buying a brand new home. It started from scratch, a mere lot of yucky dirt, and we were able to have it transformed into a beautiful home that has the perfect layout for our family. We were able to choose from SEVERAL floor plans, ranging in size from 1600 square feet up to 4,000 square feet. We settled upon one of a handful of versions in the 3,300 square foot range. Whether you are looking at Homes for sale in Crestview FL, Dallas, TX, or Fresno, CA, I totally recommend checking out the feasibility of buying and building a new home.
I thought we would end up getting a little bit larger of a home, but the layouts the builder had just lacked that special something until I saw this floor plan. EVERY room had a purpose, we were able to change the formal dining room into an office for my husband instead. We chose to add in a pantry and also an under the stairs storage closet. We chose to put in a linen closet instead of a separate shower, which left us with a shower/tub combo. I was fine with that because we went with the large garden tub. It also wasn’t practical for us to have both a shower and a separate tub. Let’s face it, we aren’t going to both going to need to be in there bathing at the same time! SOMEONE has to watch the kids, right!? 🙂
There were SO many choices to be made in buying a new home. When you buy a used home or a home that’s ready to move in, there aren’t dozens of pages of options to go over! We had to choose our flooring (and pad thickness below the carpet!), counter tops, cabinet color, ceiling height, whether or not we wanted grass, sprinkler systems, the type of door knobs, the type of doors, the type of banister on the stairs, if we wanted an extra bathroom upstairs or a larger closet in one of the bedrooms, how many bedrooms we wanted upstairs or if we wanted it to have a huge loft, if we wanted blinds installed, what kind of security system we wanted, and SO much more.

| Choices, choices! |
In the end, I am pretty confident we chose really well. I’m glad that we have owned a home before, because we had a pretty good idea of what we wanted. We chose to put in an extra plug on its own circuit in the garage for a freezer sometime in the future. We chose to block our lights for ceiling fans, but to save that as a project to do on our own in the future because it will be MUCH cheaper. We decided to have it come installed with garage door openers. (Good thing, too. Our neighbors next door moved in the same time as us and chose the no opener option and they are having a hard time figuring out how to DIY. They are still parking on the street at this point! YIKES!) The new grass is looking cute with a few sprigs of green here and there thanks to our sprinkler system. The blinds are awesome, except the one my 10 month old broke like a twig. He just doesn’t know his own strength! In short, WE LOVE OUR NEW HOME!!

Oh come on! Show us pictures of the new house! I bet it is lovely. It is so large, I am really jealous! Congratulations!
Yeah show us the pictures of your new home. I hope it would be lovely. And between, don’t just think about the flooring and ceiling height. Think about something which will add security to your new home? Why don’t you think about going for a home security camera installation?
Quality engineering and the latest construction techniques significantly increase the energy-efficiency of your new modular home. This ensures it will be economical to own and comfortable to live in regardless of the weather. In addition, most modular homes use two-by-six (2 x 6) framing for the walls. This allows more insulation to be placed in the wall, thereby ensuring greater energy efficiency. Finally, modular homes have much less air infiltration, which is one of the largest causes of heat loss in a home.
Modular Homes come in many different styles, including ranch, cape cod, split level, and two-story. Although there are many standard floor plans to choose from within each style, complete design flexibility and customization, including the ability to draw your own unique design is available.
Environment friendliness is incorporated into the very design of prefabricated home plans . There are a good number of houses that are being built today that are extremely environment friendly in terms of their design. The houses are designed in ways so as to minimize wastage of energy. These houses take minimal energy for heating and cooling as they are small in size.
Because pools are such an expensive proposition, it’s important to give a lot of time to design. You’ll only build it once, and therefore your choices of materials and detailing should be high quality and timeless so your pool design won’t go out of style in the near future. Beware of fads. Question new materials before you invest. The rigors of weather and chemically treated water may have far reaching consequences for newer materials that have not stood the test of time and use.
Algae is another popular scapegoat when it comes to swimming pool cleaning. It is often blamed for making pool water dirty. While algae certainly will turn pool water cloudy and eventually make it go green if it isn’t dealt with, it isn’t actually making your pool water dirty. Algae is a microscopic plant and perfectly natural. Still, a pool full of algae isn’t going to contribute towards a healthy swimming pool either!
Escalator cleaners are not the sort of cleaning machine that many companies would want to use every day so it makes great sense to hire. Not only does this save the expense of purchase, but also saves storage space because you can return the escalator cleaner to Clean and Sweep once you are done.
Consider the function of your renovated basement when choosing flooring for the space: a playroom will benefit from a soft floor made from play mats or carpet while laminate or hardwood flooring will add warmth to a guest bedroom.
Preparing for a remodeling project is a lot like preparing to buy a car. You may know the room and style you want, but the options you choose may drive the price higher than you can reasonably afford. But there are ways to stretch the remodeling budget and end up with stylish results within budget.
A contractor could be in your home and around your family for days, weeks, or even months while changing the way your house looks and functions. So if you don’t like a contractor for any reason, don’t hire them.
Like everything in life, prevention is better than cure. So if you want to be sure you do have a healthy swimming pool, you need to maintain the water and keep it healthy. It has been said that only fools have dirty pools! It is as simple as using a good test kit to test your water regularly, and then spending a little bit of time as little as ten minutes a week making sure that you add the right elements to rectify anything that might have gone wrong.
landscapes are important to us for many reasons. They are a shared resource for everyone, irrespective of ownership, ability or background.
Be picky and have lots of options. Seek at least three bids from prospective contractors based on the same specifications, materials and labor needed to complete the project. Homeowners should discuss bids in detail with each contractor and ask questions about variations in pricing. The lowest-priced contractor may not be the best.
If you’re looking to improve the look of your home without the painting, vinyl siding is a popular, affordable choice. Many homeowners and builders choose it because it’s long lasting, durable, inexpensive and relatively easy to install and maintain. Vinyl comes in a variety of grains, thickness and colors making it also a practical choice for many homeowners.

Be careful to keep your color choices aligned with the home’s architecture. In other words, don’t add cottage garden-type flowers to a bed in front of a starkly modern home. Certain plants are grown because of their interesting and colorful foliage, such as hosta and coleus, and are better suited to more modern homes. If you have questions about what to plant, consult with the experts at your local nursery.
One of the most important construction materials used for construction purposes is metal. Metal is used in constructing large buildings or skyscrapers. Metals are composed of different kinds of metal alloys, one of which is steel. Steel is strong, and can be used in constructing buildings that will be used for a long time and need to last.
Pool decks can be made out of wood, stone, slate, concrete, granite, etc. They serve as much more than a slip-resistant surface surrounding a swimming pool. They can also be used to complement the exterior of your home.
When pools include water features, unique lighting, specialty materials and design features, they have powerful influence on adjacent outdoor living spaces, particularly when well illuminated by night lighting.
Waterproofing Kills Mold & Mildew and Keeps Them Out of Your Basement Mold and mildew love to make themselves at home in your basement. If it is dark and has any signs of water or water damages, chances are it has mold and/or mildew. Sadly, many homeowners simply accept the mold and mildew as part of having a basement. However, the truth is that both mold and mildew are very dangerous to your health! Mold, especially black mold, can be fatal, especially to children and pets. Mold spreads and reproduces with air-borne spores. These spores get into the air in the home and will make their way upstairs into the main air circulation of the home.
To make it a welcoming room that expresses your personality, choose wallcoverings or treatments that reflect your style. The walls in this room are wallpapered with a chic print. The effect brings warmth and texture to the walls and gives them a look of antiquity.
Display furniture that doubles as storage space is a godsend to those of us making the best of our small-space living situations.
A beautiful home and yard quickly and easily loses appeal with a broken, cracked, or missing formally-paved driveway. Homeowners with a driveways don’t have to worry about spills or leaks from automobiles, lawn tools, or outdoor projects; asphalt driveways easily resist oil and liquid stains.
Home modifications are changes made to adapt living spaces to meet the needs of people with physical limitations so that they can continue to live independently and safely. These modifications may include adding assistive technology or making structural changes to a home. Modifications can range from something as simple as replacing cabinet doorknobs with pull handles to full-scale construction projects that require installing wheelchair ramps and widening doorways.

Landscaping can increase a property’s value by making it more attractive. A well-manicured property with appealing landscaping is often a selling point for a home. The landscaping can also improve your home’s appearance to match similar homes in the neighborhood.
Organize your home with a storage trunk table. Having an organized home is of great benefit because it reduces a lot of mess created by unnecessary clutter.
The big home improvement stores carry a variety of inexpensive styles and all you need to do is stick them in the ground. Not only are they functional – lighting your way at night – but they provide ornamentation as well.
When you are using a storage trunk to hold items that you need frequent access to, place the trunk at the end of the bed. You can use it as a seat when you are getting ready, drape clothing or towels over it and use it to store items that are needed around the bedroom. You can store accent pillows, extra blankets, winter bedding, extra sheet sets or replacement mattress pads.
The garden area should be maintained regularly and should undergo rigorous maintenance every four months. This is to prevent insects and termites infestation which can cause significant damage in infrastructure. The landscape of a house should also be in good appearance to help preserve your property’s value.
