Okay, my kids are getting older. The 2011-2012 school year will be my last one for a long while in which I’ll only have one school-aged kid in the house to homeschool… Ahh! How did they grow so fast?! What’s funny is that Michael, my 4 year old, has ALWAYS been interested in participating in our normal homeschooling lives, so we work on lots of things as he is interested.
(He particularly likes being involved with extracurriculars, field trips, and anything MESSY!!!)
Anyway, it has gotten me to thinking… The kids are obviously on board for regular academics like math, reading, handwriting, science, etc. Beyond that, though, I’m going to HAVE to outsource!
A few ideas we have tossed around have been swimming lessons, group sports such as flag football for a 2nd year, scouting, a Spanish tutor, art lessons, gymnastics, doing another run with our homeschooling co-op, or maybe even Junior Master Gardeners.
What are your thoughts? How do you sneak in the extras without going BROKE while making sure the kids get to have a blast at least sometimes!?
I’m looking forward to hearing what you do or could suggest!
