If any of you have been following social media, you know that August is now National Breastfeeding Month. As a 4 time nursing mom, and Lord-willing will be at it again in a few months, I wanted to shed some light on some awesome products for breastfeeding moms that shouldn’t be missed! Here are some hot products for breastfeeding moms.
Some of the products below were provided to me as a sample for this article. Others are products I simply use every time and may use affiliate links.
Belly Armor’s RadiaShield Nursing Cover
I’ll admit, I rarely cover up when it’s nursing time, but I know that many women feel more comfortable using a nursing cover. This nursing cover from Belly Armor retails for $49 and comes in Aster (as shown) or Mint. Both are gender neutral and provide full coverage, including contoured shoulder straps.
This nursing cover protects your baby while also comfortably providing privacy and a more discreet nursing experience. It is a whopping 31×33 inches! The shoulder straps are easy to adjust with the ring closure, making it a one-handed adjustment. That’s important when you’re preoccupied with Baby!
As you can see above, this nursing cover also features a rigid neckline that provides great visibility for you to see your baby. It also provides plenty of fresh air for Baby without sacrificing privacy. The material is light-weight and breathable. Most importantly, you can machine wash it!
There are even handy pockets at the bottom of this nursing cover.
Stylish, discrete and 99.9% effective at shielding radiation form cells phones, laptops and other devices. Made with pure cotton outer fabric and lined with RadiaShield® Fabric, a highly conductive silver textile with the same shielding properties as a 1/4-inch thick sheet of aluminum. It shields by neutralizing incoming electromagnetic waves, canceling out the ambient radiation and reducing your exposure.
ChewBeads
These nursing necklaces are so cute! Not only that, but they are totally functional as a distraction during nursing sessions. The best part? Your child can also use them to teethe on. I’ve had lots of nursing necklaces over the years, and Chewbeads rock because they’re 100% silicone and totally safe for kids to nibble on.
Since there’s a little too much testosterone in this house, I love my Chewbeads Punchy Pink Jane Necklace. It retails for $29.50. It’s simple to clean with soap and water. If you’ll notice in the picture below on the top right, it has a breakaway clasp that makes it much safer around Baby. There will be no worrying about them getting dangerously wrapped up in it.
Chewbeads makes tons of other fun necklace designs in lots of colors. They also have bracelets, teethers, children’s jewelry, and more!
Aden + Anais Swaddles
If you love to swaddle your babies to make them feel more safe and comfortable, you will LOVE these Aden + Anais Swaddles! The one I have shown here is an Organic Swaddle, which comes in singles ($26) or 3-packs ($54.95). It measures a whopping 47″ x 47″ and is made of organic cotton muslin. There are also classic and bamboo varieties, and another one called a cozy blanket which has an extra layer for added warmth if you prefer.
The material is breathable, soft, and versatile. I’ve used them or seen them used as blankets, burp cloths, swaddlers, stroller or car seat covers for when Baby is out and about and needs to be protected from the elements (or grabby hands!), play blankets, changing pads, and nursing covers. They are so breathable and super easy to wash and take care of. This is the perfect gift for a new mom!
Aden + Anais Burpy Bib
Aden + Anais also has these amazing Burpy Bibs. I’ve come to realize that a breastfeeding mom needs a burpy bib. These are made from the same soft, light cotton muslin material, but they are contoured to perfectly hug Mom or Dad’s shoulder during burping. That contoured fit also makes it an excellent bib for Baby once he or she is old enough to start eating some table foods or if your little one is a little drooly.
I absolutely love multi-functional products, so this one is definitely one of my favorites. I love how easy it is to clean. These classic Burpy Bibs are $22 for a two pack, but they also come in singles in other varieties: organic, bamboo, and terry velour. These materials are all awesome and I love that they all seem to get softer with time.
Lansinoh Disposable Nursing Pads
I first discovered these handy gems when I had my first child over 9 years ago. The other disposables either aren’t really very absorbent, leave weird lines under my clothes, irritate my skin, or fall apart with regular use. I’ve had my fair share of reusable products, usually from some of the same awesome folks that I have bought cloth diapers from, but they don’t work well for me for some reason or another.
I am so glad that I did try these early on, because over the years, I have tried every brand and every style. These are the only ones that are truly absorbent, flexible, and don’t give the big orb look when out and about and an unexpected let-down occurs.
I will say that my experience has been different with each child. With my daughter, I relied on these Lansinoh Disposable Nursing Pads and had to change them out every two hours or so. Then I’ve had another kid where I needed these for the first 3 weeks and then didn’t need them again at all. During my pregnancies, I just buy a big box or two for good measure and that way I’m prepared!
Cake Lingerie – Nursing Bras and Sleepwear
Cake Lingerie offers some seriously cute, yet totally functional nursing bras and sleepwear. They have underwire, non-wire, plus-sized, and more to choose from, which I really appreciate. I’ve never liked underwires while breastfeeding, so that it an important factor when choosing new intimates. I love their selection, because it really proves that you don’t have to wear boring bras (and underwear!) during your pergnancies and breastfeeding stages. Each item in their collection has a fun flair and cute accents, while also serving with total functionality.
CapriClear Moisturizing Spray
Every breastfeeding mom needs a secret weapon. This CapriClear Moisturizing Spray is certainly one of mine! It is a light, spray-on fractionated coconut oil. That means that it won’t get cloudy or harden at lower temperatures, so it’s always liquid and ready to use. I’ve used coconut oil as a soothing alternative to thick nipple butters or creams while nursing. It has antibacterial qualities and is generally considered safe when used while nursing. My pediatrician and midwives have confirmed this for me when I asked.
Additionally, it’s excellent on healing postpartum skin for stretchmarks, dry patches, and any place that could use a quick squirt of natural moisturization. I like to put a few drops of essential oils on over this once I’ve sprayed it on to add a custom scent or other healing properties.
It can also be sprayed to intimate areas as a lubrication, though I would not recommend it if you are using latex products with it as oils tend to break latex down. Coconut oil has so many uses, and this spray makes applying it a cinch! A 5.2 oz full sized bottle retails for $19.99.
Belli Sheer Comfort Lip Balm
Finally, lip balm. Yes, I consider it a must for breastfeeding moms. I don’t know about you, but I tend to get parched, especially those first few weeks. Having a huge supply of drinking water on hand is very important, but also keeping your lips hydrated with a good lip balm can help keep you more comfortable. I like this one from Belli, called Sheer Comfort Lip balm. It soothes and moisturizes lips that are cracked and dry and is made from ultrapurified lanolin oil. That means that, in a pinch, you could use this as a nice nipple cream too! It comes in a handy .3 oz squeeze tube and retails for $12.
The ingredients used in the entire line of Belli products has been allergy tested, is free of artificial dyes and fragrances, is cruelty-free, contains no phthalates, and no paraben preservatives. Their motto is “Picky for a Purpose”, which I think is awesome!

That nursing cover looks awesome! I rarely used one, but when I did, I liked the kind where I could actually see the baby. I also wish I’d had a nursing necklace. Honestly, I cannot imagine why I didn’t spend the money to get one…my kids were busy little nursers!
