I received a tiny free sample of Skillet Bacon Jam to sample.  Let me first say that before I opened it at all, I checked out the ingredient list.it wasn’t enough to use in a whole lot, but it was pretty good on a burger.
From their website:
what the heck is bacon jam?….
we take a big bunch of really, really good bacon, and render it down…add a bunch of spices..onions, etc. and let it simmer for about 6 hours…give it a quick puree, blast chill it…and you have bacon jam…
Unfortunately, the “tangy” and “sweet” part kind of grossed me out.  I’d prefer a more “salty” and “fat-tasting” focus. lol  I love bacon, though, so I can’t REALLY cause a stink here.  It was certainly bacon-y.  I think it would be delicious if it made an appearance in meatloaf or in a salad dressing of some sort, too.
Overall, though, it did NOT knock my socks off… I rate it an, “eh,” and I have looked around and see that it can be made fairly simply.  Check out this bacon jam recipe for a spicy take on it.

I haven’t heard of this product yet. I love bacon and I guess this is worth a try. But right now, I feel that hmmmmmm… I feel like it’s not that much of an “oooooooh” once I give it a try. I’ll get back once I’ve tasted it.
