I can hardly believe that I have a 7 week old. It wasn’t that long ago that I was announcing my pregnancy, and then giving birth. Now I have a huge lump of cuteness. All we do is cuddle. Well, practically. Here is what we’re doing tonight:
Adjusting to life as a family of 7 has been pretty easy. We haven’t stopped our normal life much at all. There are a few things we haven’t gotten back to. My Wednesday Bible study was missed a few times and is now on holiday break. I didn’t want to expose everyone to the classroom-like setting and get him sick as a brand new baby. Oh, and we did miss 2 weeks of homeschool PE classes (once due to visiting the Perot Museum and once because Grace got a stomach bug). Other than that, it’s been business as usual!
Our routine hasn’t been affected too much during the day. Organizing the kids early in the school year and teaching them how to track their lessons and how to get to the websites, use the software, and where to find worksheets was a genius idea on my part! I cannot believe how much smoother everything has been going.
The only thing I’m having trouble with helping them with consistently has been spelling. All About Spelling(aff) requires me to be pretty hands-on, but only for 15-20 minutes a day. However, I have 2 kids doing it, and that 30-40 minutes per day sometimes just doesn’t happen. We either skip the day or squish 2 days together into a single 30 minute session at least a few times a week. They seem to be retaining the information, so I am not stressing.
I’ve put the kids on a REAL Christmas vacation for the next 2 weeks! We have never done this before, so I’m nervous and hope they don’t forget everything I’ve taught them. 🙂 They are looking forward to having screen time during the weekdays (woohoo!) and we’ve even talked about going and buying another computer. The reason? So they quit FIGHTING over them! 🙂 They want to play Minecraft together, too. That makes me laugh, but might be more convenient with yet another machine to play on. 🙂
I’m looking forward to the holidays! We have all of our shopping done except for the presents being purchased for me.
My daughter had the idea to draw names, so we are all buying for different people. I’m still giving gifts from me and the hubs for the kids, but this will be an extra goody per kid (and grown up). I have a pretty snazzy list set up on Google Keep and shared it with hubby, so I sure hope Michael, who drew my name, gets me something exciting. Will I get a 4 slice toaster!? The suspense is intense around here. 🙂
I hope you all have an incredible holiday! I’ll still be on here and blogging, but I wanted to check in and share where I’m at in life. If you aren’t already, follow me on Instagram for a glimpse into our life in pictures. I use it pretty regularly and love to have new friends to follow, too.
