This has been a pretty big week for us. There have been a few firsts, and some fun experiences.
For the purpose of this blog post, we’ll begin our week like my calendar does and go with starting on Sunday.
We got to celebrate Charlie’s 3rd birthday. The day started out with us wanting to go pick up his cake, only to find out our van battery was dead. We got it jumped and then headed to the car repair place for a new battery, an oil change, and apparently hundreds of dollars of maintenance type stuff (I am awful at keeping up with all the recommended stuff and it really had been pushed to the limit…)
Charlie has been my boy lately, so he wanted to go with me. He was the only one, so we made it a date! We went to lunch together and he got to play with toys and books and watch Rescue Bots for a little bit. I don’t think he even realized that we were sitting around waiting for 3 1/2 hours for repairs. For him, this was just some time with Mom!
After all of that was done, we took him to Chuck E. Cheese for a little family party. He loved his Transformers (Bo-Bot) cake and playing tons of games!
He also started speech classes through the school district this week. He had been doing ECI for speech, but since he is now 3, he’s phased out of that program. He’ll be going a few times a week.
He’s just started having huge separation anxiety over the past month, so I was nervous to drop him off. Apparently he tried to run away and then cried until he fell asleep, but woke up happy and played with Play-Do. The second time went better with less crying and he said it was fun. Score!
Ethan got to try baby food for the first time. Green beans. My kids and husband would not stop talking about wanting to let him try foods and I got tired of hearing it, so I went ahead and tried it out. He’s really grabby, and I’ve tried to explain that he just wants to mimic us, but they don’t listen to me. 😉 He ate the food (about 1 baby spoon full total, really). He didn’t hate it, but I can tell he just doesn’t care. I’m not going to be quick to feed him any more for a while, so we’ll see how that goes!
We did some other fun things this week (unpictured, sorry). Today, I took Grace, Heath, and Charlie with me to some neighborhood garage sales. We scored some super good deals, so that was exciting for me. The kids loved their finds.
I took Charlie to an event where there was a petting zoo, and he got to pet his favorite animal: a piggy.
All in all, it was a really good week. One filled with a few milestones. One where I actually am finishing it off on a really positive note. I’m hopeful that this next week is going to rock it!

Separation anxiety is the worst! Hopefully he continues to get better! My middle one had a lot of trouble at 3 but by the time he was 4 I think he was ready to get away from me!
