I’ve had several old friends ask me what I’ve been up to since moving to the Dallas area. Oh man, have we been busy! It’s been kind of overwhelming over the holidays as we’ve done a ton of traveling.. We went back to my hometown for Thanksgiving and went to my grandma’s house for Turkey Day lunch (an hour from there, so more driving!). We also went to Arkansas to visit family, Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine the week before Christmas, back to my hometown again for Christmas, back to my Grandma’s for Christmas dinner.. and just last weekend we went to Oklahoma to meet meet half way with family. WHEW!!!!
As far as Dallas-area activities, we have been enjoying our homeschool group immensely. The kids are starting to make some terrific friends and I am starting to make more connections, too. It’s making me feel much better about being out here! We keep finding neat places to go and fun things to do. We went ot an open gymnastics event for homeschoolers a few days ago and had a total blast. It was $5 for 2 hours per child and included an hour of actual instruction! Way cheaper than a real class and certainly less pressure than paying enrollment fees and signing up. They do this drop in event twice a week. AWESOME!

Next week, we start Music Together classes as a family. It’ll be weekly for 10 weeks and I personally am looking forward to this. It will combine movement with dance and song and play… as well as just spending time doing something fun together. I am eager to see what the kids think about it!
We have also been busy with Girl Scouts. My daughter has started selling Girl Scout cookies today and is pretty motivated to do a good job about that. I’m trying to help in a co-leader role and helping to coordinate a Daisy event. Oh… and did I mention that I’m the Cookie Mom for our troop? Yep, I am. lol

I’ve also taken on a moms group on Meetup and am trying to get that going. Yes, I’m super busy… BUT I need to get out and hang out with folks without being a MOM for a while. We’ll see how that group does.. I’m willing to give it a shot as I really want to keep putting myself out there to make more friends.
OH and I absolutely love my OB. Where I moved from, the birth climate was hostile and fractured. Here, I was able to find a terrific OB that fully supports my decisions, desires, and wishes for the pregnancy and birth. He loves research and has no problems with Mom taking charge. He is backup OB to midwives in the area and seriously seems to respect that birthing community as well. (That’s something I have NEVER SEEN before. Where I was from, being a doula was so hard because there was such a push AGAINST moms taking charge, VBAC, natural childbirth, etc…. and none of them really supported the local doulas. Transferring was a total nightmare and everyone was a huge jerk if you had to transfer… not the case here, it seems!). It’s been neat talking with local doulas and other birth professionals. I’m feeling pretty blessed to be here for my SURPRISE! pregnancy.
What are you up to? How was Christmas?
