So my house is STILL on the market. I think I’ve told you guys about this before when talking about remodels and stuff. I’ve decided to talk about the good, the bad, and the annoying!
The Good: My house stays pretty clean all the time. I make sure I can always pick it up within about 30-45 minutes most of the time. The Bad: Life is kind of up in the air. Will we still be around in 2 months? Will we STILL be on the market then? Will we have to move soon and, if so, where to?
The Annoying: Even though we’ve listed on our MLS thing that we need an hour’s notice before showings, we have had folks walk up to the door and insist that they were there for their appointment time. I’m sorry, but with 3 kids I do NOT have my house completely ready to open up any time! Or the worst was the other day when they wanted to come in TEN minutes, I hurried like heck to get stuff ready and they CANCELLED!!! UGH!
The Good: Once our house does sell, we’ll have enough money to pay off all of our debts, of course including the house, but also others we have incurred over the past few years. I was looking at Missouri real estate and saw that their market was similar to ours and hope we can get our bottom line asking price!!
The Bad: I’m nervous that once we DO get an offer, there will be a zillion repairs that will need to be done and cost a ton of cash. This makes me really worried.
The Annoying: I have had folks show up unexpectedly to my house a lot, but the worse has been once when I got home from a long trip and had JUST gotten settled into a nice bubble bath. Another bad time was when I was in the shower getting ready for the day and had to run to the door in just a towel (I’m so glad I heard the bell!!!).
I’m really beginning to feel like our house will never sell… Out of the past 13 months, it’s been on the market NINE of them…. SIGH!!
What do you think – any great tips?? What is your experience? What’s been the good, the bad, and the annoying for you??

Story of my life! J/K
Hang in there! You are so spot on with the good, bad and the annoying. My house happens to be on the market right now too and yes, it is always clean but its a pain to always have to put everything away every day 🙂
And as a Realtor, it is SO frustrating when people show up to my listings that are owner occupied without calling or making an appointment when the MLS showing instructions clearly state “must call with a 2 hour notice”! I feel ya!
Hey, don’t worry about there being a million repairs. Take it one day at a time. Get an offer and see, they may not even request repairs and if they do you can counter, they can counter, you can counter back until you are all in agreement.
Best of luck and keep us posted!!
Our house finally sold after 130+ showings and 14 months (we closed in May). The contract with the same buyers was canceled twice d/t appraisals being low but in the end it all worked out. Things that were originally a big deal for the buyers became less of an issue when we held our ground.
We specifically put in our listing 1 hour notice as my husband traveled M-F and I had a baby and 3 dogs but still people would park in front of our house and call from the street. I understand its a buyers market but some common courtesy is appreciated. Hang in there, it will sell. I’m living proof of that!
