I’ve recently been asked to take a look at a new pre-packaged homeschool curriculum from Evolution Homeschool. I am glad that there are secular options available such as this, and boy is it all-inclusive!
There are “boxed” curriculum options for grades K-6. I looked at the 2nd grade material and was very impressed. It included workbooks and instructional information from educational companies and products that I already know, have used, and trust. These are great resources like Singapore Math, McGraw-Hill, and and Growing With Grammar. The second grade package includes an ENTIRE school year of curriculum, which includes science, math, reading comprehension, grammar, spelling, writing, social studies, and geography. For the 2nd grade package, it is reasonably priced at $459 and you’ll receive ALL of the workbooks and texts for the whole year.
I also checked out the Kindergarten package. That one includes science, math, reading, reading comprehension, social studies, and phonics. It’s only $349 and includes a Start To Read! program by SchoolZone. The kindergarten package includes workbooks, textbooks, and fun supplemental items like CDs and flashcards that go along with the curriculum items.
The K-4 items are available for purchase right now and the 5th and 6th grade packages are expected to be available February 2013. All are priced below $500 and will provide a very well-rounded and complete education. Most of the work becomes progressively independent for the student as well, which can be helpful for families with multiple children that need to be able to teach several kids throughout the day.
If you’re on the hunt for a really well-rounded curriculum and your head is just spinning too much to make the call to pick and choose components, I truly feel that this has an amazing variety of excellent material. I honestly wish something like this had been available when I started homeschooling and that someone had told me about it. I really do mean that!
