Feeling beaten down by simple everyday tasks? Find yourself unusually exhausted after a usual working day? Waking up and going through life day by day seem a little overwhelming? Although this seems like the prelude of an advertisement selling some sort of magical reviving pills containing cod liver oil or perhaps a magical serum using my pal, coconut oil, it really isn’t.
Simple Ways to Energize Your Life
The following includes four simple and free (for the most part) ways that you could follow to zap some energy back into your life.
The first method is obvious. Eat well. Yes, that’s it. Although size zero is fast on its way to becoming the societal norm, it really isn’t the clinical norm. Stick to a balanced diet. Include lots of fruits and vegetables as the base of your diet, and then look at protein, fat, and finally, carbohydrates. Everyone’s needs are different, but taking a close look at what you are taking into your body will reveal a lot about why you may not have the energy that you really want! By the way, treat your sweet tooth from time to time, but don’t deprive yourself of good, nutritious food for extended periods of time. You must feed yourself wholesome, nutrient-rich foods to have optimal energy!
The second method is also one you’ve heard too many times: exercise. Just getting motivated and making a plan won’t do. You have to actually get up, do it, and stick to it. Look for opportunities to get moving whenever you can. Walk to school, walk to work, get off the bus one stop before and walk the rest of the way, park in the farthest spot from the front door. Do jumping jacks, push ups, squats, stretches. Play with a hula hoop or a jump rope. Play ball with the kids or your spouse. Exercise doesn’t have to be boring! Make it fun. Find a friend to make it even more enjoyable.
The third is maintaining your social relations. It goes without saying that people who are socially active are way happier than those who are not. Make some time for your friends. Call them, text them, stay in touch with them. I go on late night IHOP runs with my best gal pals, and we stay and chat it up for hours with pots of decaf coffee and piles of pancakes. The point is, actually setting aside time to meet up with them and going out somewhere with them is vital to your mental health and will help your feel more alive and energized. The same goes for your dating life, which means your SPOUSE if you are married! When is the last time you went on a date? It’s time NOW!
The fourth method is finding a hobby that you love. Find something that you could really and truly enjoy, not because it relates to your field of work, and not because it’s what most people do, and definitely not because it’s something you’re expected to do. Everyone has at least one thing that they can truly enjoy with their whole heart. Find it and invest your time in it. If you can’t find anything that you love to do, find some things that you really like to do. I like to decorate my Happy Planner and write about things we’ve done each day. I also like to color in adult coloring books. I like to blog. I enjoy traveling. Find some hobbies and get to it.
As you can see, these are not steps that give results right away, simple as they may be. Energizing your life is a process, but once you’ve achieved it through a lifestyle change, that energy will stay with you.
The tips given above aren’t for an energy boost that’s just for a couple of hours. They’ll energize your whole life!
