Okay, let me just say…It has been a really long time since I’ve picked up and started reading a book that I REALLY didn’t want to put down! I *loved* this book. “Double Shot” is the last of 3 in the Maya Davis series of books by author Erynn Mangum. I am so sad that I didn’t read the first 2 before this, but I am just going to have to find them and read them, too!
The main character, Maya, is a 20-something barista living in California. She’s engaged to a hunky zookeeper and planning her upcoming wedding. This novel leads you through several months of her life in a hilarious and realistic way.
I don’t want to give away too many details about the book, but I’m sure that if you are anything like me, you will love it. The language and funny mannerisms of the characters were so REAL to me. I felt like Maya could have been my best friend…and her pastor? HILARIOUS! The guy reminds me of several of the pastors up at my church – cool, funny, and real people.
I loved how the Bible and several key verses were weaved into this great book. It really makes you think about whether the path you’re following is the one God wants you to take or if you are asking God to just accept YOUR plans for your own life. Deep thoughts in a light-hearted book.
I give this book 2 thumbs up and really do highly recommend it!
