Do your children enjoy making crafts and working with their hands, but you hate a big mess? That describes our family, which is why I was very interested in trying the Zirrly Super Beads Mega Pack with my kids.
What are they exactly? Well, they are fuse beads that are simpler to use than other similar products, because to fuse them after you’ve made a design, all you have to do is spray them with water! No more ironing or gluing to set a design. It’s seriously as easy as adding water and letting it dry.

The set we received included 4500+ multi-colored beads, 4 puzzle trays to stack the beads on, 20 pattern cards (to place under the tray to guide you in creating your design), 2 spray bottles (just fill with water), instruction manuals, and 1 plastic tool that enables you to remove your dried and fused completed bead creation from the puzzle tray once it’s ready.
I wanted to do this crafty project with my older kids. They get annoyed that we don’t do as many hands-on activities now that they’re older, so I knew this would be a hit. This would be a perfect rainy day activity to pull out, or to use when it’s too hot to play outside. I will probably take these with us on our next “unplugged” vacation as a nice alternative to screen time for the whole family. It would also make a great birthday gift that wouldn’t drive the parents crazy because it’s not a huge mess to use.
You start by choosing your favorite design from the Zirrly Super Beads Mega Pack. In the package, they do give you 20 of them but there are multiples of the designs, so we had a cupcake, an elephant, a turtle, or an apple to choose from.
Next, you find the beads that you need. You will use the pattern on the template and the colors on there, so your child will be matching the colors one for one. For example, the turtle needed yellow, red, green, 3 whites, and one black.
You then place the beads on the puzzle tray to build the design.
When your child has done this, fill the included spray bottle with water, remove the design template from the back, and spritz everywhere on the beads making up the design.
Let it dry for at least an hour before using the included tool to help you start popping your creation off of the puzzle tray. Pretty cool, right?
My kids had a good time making these crafts with the Zirrly Super Beads Mega Pack. They all said they wished there had been more design choices, but my daughter already has plans to make her own little design templates or to just freehand it next time we play with the beads.
This would be a cool activity for Vacation Bible School this summer! I know the company can make custom kits, so if there was a certain design you needed, they could make this up for you. Wouldn’t that be cool?
This would also be a neat activity for slumber parties, playdates, holiday parties, family nights, youth groups, preschools, and more. Because you do not need heat to fuse the beads together, it’s a much safer activity that could be done in places without much electricity, like summer camps or on the back porch.
