Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights ROCK
My family loves listening to music. You may remember my review of What a Zoo! from Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights. Guess what? They’re ba-ack! In June 2013, they’re releasing a brand new children’s album called Bandwagon. We were sent a complimentary review copy and have been listening to it for the past week and a half on our daily trips running errands, and it is a great family friendly CD. The tunes seem really seasonal to me, which is cool! There is music about being out of school, enjoying your summer, and it even takes you through the fall and colder temperatures. There is even a song about eating healthy foods thrown in there.
I’ve come to know this band for smooth vocals, great content, positive messages, and great instrumental talent as well.
My kids appreciate the silly (and serious) lyrics, because they can actually relate to what they are listening to. I know that listening to the radio gets them all sorts of confused, and I’m often caught off-guard when they ask me questions about inappropriate things because it was addressed in their favorite current hit. Awkward.
Listen to this music and enjoy peace of mind!
Young and old can enjoy this clever collection. My kids have been clapping an singing along since the second time we listened to it. It’s even sparked a few educational conversations (like, “Where is New York?” and “Why is this saying to eat healthy foods?”), which I’m totally good with. Teachable moments at their finest!
My youngest two kiddos are especially musically inclined, so they get excited when I start belting out the lyrics or tap my side to the beat. It would make a great “graduation” present for a young child or a really fun party favor at a birthday party or other celebration.
Give this rockin’ band from New York City a chance and try out this new album!
Check out their other albums, too, of course. 🙂
Want a little taste of the talent from Joanie Leeds? Check out this cute video of “Ice Cream” from their album City Kid.
*I was sent a copy of this album to review. I really listened to it and I’m really sharing my own thoughts and opinions on it. This album is great for kids! 🙂
