I love being able to watch a movie that my ENTIRE family enjoys all together. I was invited to an early screening of Epic and was SO EXCITED to find that this movie fits the bill! Brought to you by the same folks that did Ice Age, this movie rocks.
The film was imaginative and beautiful! To think that a tiny little society of people could exist among us is so cool. I don’t want to give any spoilers, because you really need to go see this family friendly movie.
There was a little bit of romance and quite a bit of animated violence, so beware of that. It was very dark in some parts of the movie when there was fighting. There was also death, but it was handled very well, and gently. I loved that the death of one of the main characters was immediately followed by LIFE. It softened the blow so it didn’t feel so devastating.
Visually, the movie is stunning. I usually don’t care for 3D movies, but the way that they did it in this one just seemed so natural. They didn’t do anything hokey or shocking with it like you see in some movies (which is usually what freaks my kids out – like when movies do something like have a scary creature jump out at the audience).
The cast is all-star and did a stellar job. I was surprised at all of the big names, like Beyonce and Colin Ferrell, Pitbull, Steven Tyler, and Amanda Seyfried. I loved how the characters were expressed through facial expressions and the voices.
I loved it, my daughter loved it, and my boys kept their 3D glasses on the whole time (which is really saying something!). My daughter has already asked me if we can go see it again. You have to go see it!!! 12 thumbs up from my family! 🙂 Epic is in theaters now.

Wow – what a treat! A movie I can bring my kids to that they’ll be interested in and not learn anything inappropriate. Thanks for the recommendation.

Thank you for the review!!! I will be sure to take my kiddos to the 3D version!!! It’s so hard to find GOOOOOOD movies, so I appreciate you especially talking about seeing it in 3D.

This sounds like a movie my hubby and I would enjoy even though Jaye is still a little to small to care. Sometimes the fun animated movies have been our favorites!
