There are so many opportunities for kids to learn and play at the same time. The LeapFrog LeapReader is the newest way to help my kids teach themselves how to read and write!
I love to help my kids make wise choices about how to spend their leisure time. My favorite is when they voluntarily do learning games and activities. LeapFrog has been there for me throughout the years, teaching my kids with fun, interactive videos, books, and other impressive products.

We had a dozen friends over for an afternoon of playful learning. We got to break out the LeapFrog LeapReader for everyone to try. It is designed for kids 4 to 8 years old, and that’s the age range of everyone at our party.
Let me tell you how the LeapReader Reading and Writing System is unique. (I seriously love this thing!)
It helps your child to:
- Learn to Read – Sounds out words, reads sentences, and lets kids play games and puzzles.
- Learn to Write – LeapReader gives children interactive guidance as they practice writing letter and numbers on the special mess-free writing paper.
- Learn through Listening – Audio books, learning songs and trivia challenges build comprehension skills and vocabulary.

There’s a library of over 150 books, workbooks, and audio books available. This system is available in either green or pink and includes a USB rechargeable battery.
It can hold audio for up to 40 books or 175 songs. It’s also backwards compatible with most of the Tag library, so if you already have a collection of those items, don’t fret!
The LeapReader Books Are Interactive
I love how the LeapReader pen is so “smart”. It is easy for kids to point and touch the pen to their books. They can click on pictures to hear fun sound effects, words to hear them read aloud, or icons for other options like games and trivia activities.
The Monsters University book was especially fun, with tons of funny twists and hidden fun throughout the pages. It even came with 3D glasses for really cool illustrations. This was our favorite, and we’ve read it several times since then!
I don’t have to worry about the kids using it too much, because it’s easy to recharge with the USB cord. There are no batteries to replace. Genius!!
This Makes a Great Gift
This would be a smart choice for any upcoming birthdays or holiday gifts. It retails for just $49.99. I also recommend picking up a few books or flashcards.
The special LeapFrog writing paper is a must, too, because it lets them magically write using the same great LeapReader pen they use on their books. It’s like magic!
What is YOUR favorite LeapFrog product?
I trust LeapFrog for quality educational products, and have for years. Another favorite of ours is the LeapFrog Letter Factory DVD!
I received these products in order to host a LeapReader “Ready, Set, Read, & Write” Party thanks to Leapfrog and MomSelect. All opinions are my own.
