I’ll admit it. Even though I am a massage therapist myself, I rarely put myself first and really take care of me.
It’s rare that I take a moment to pamper myself with a massage. Honestly, the only times I’ve gotten massages in the past 9 years have been during pregnancy. That is, until the weekend before last.
I was able to get a complimentary massage for myself as an incentive to share the great news about the Arthritis Foundation fundraiser at Massage Envy (which is happening TOMORROW!).
Yes, I readily jumped at the chance. Let’s face it, I needed an hour to myself to take a break!

Massage Envy – My First Time
I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I arrived.
I told the person at the front desk my name, and I was given a clipboard with a little bit of paperwork to fill out. In addition to basic contact information and health history, there were also places for me to fill out preferences regarding the type of massage I was seeking and the places that were bugging me the most.
I turned it in, and within moments, my massage therapist (her name was Angel – seriously!) appeared. She asked if I needed to use the restroom, showed me to the room, and explained a little bit about how the session would work.
Once she left, I got undressed to my comfort level and laid face down on the massage table.
The Massage
Within a minute of being in the room, Angel asked if I wanted her to turn on the massage table warmer. YES. If you are asked, SAY YES. This kept me warm and cozy the entire time, plus I got to enjoy the effects of heat on sore muscles. Ahhhh. Blissful!
I was able to lie on my stomach for the first part of the massage. As I said before, I haven’t gotten a non-pregnancy massage in YEARS, so this was a wonderful treat!
She worked on my back, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, feet, and glutes.
Then, I was asked to roll over and she worked on my feet, legs, arms, hands, shoulders, neck, face, and scalp.
You may notice that the details here are few.  That would be because I was so busy enjoying the experience that I didn’t notate each and every detail.  Let’s just say that it was very relaxing and it was nice to have a professional massage therapist work on my tense muscles.  She was great about applying the perfect amount of pressure, but of course told me to let her know if I needed less or more at any time.  I didn’t make a peep!

Relaxed selfies are the best…. right?!
Once the appointment was over, I got dressed and was met in the hall by my massage therapist with a glass of water. I was walked back to the front desk, where payment was taken care of.
Massage Envy is affordable, and their hours are very convenient! I couldn’t believe that I could get a massage 7 days a week at Massage Envy.
The location close to me is a Spa location, so they also provide services such as Murad Healthy Skin Facials.
Massages are the Best!
When is the last time you have gotten a massage? Where is your closest Massage Envy?

Did you fall asleep? I always fall asleep when I’m being massaged.
