If you have a child that is from newborn to age 7, I strongly encourage you to find a great music program for them. Music Together offers a class-based curriculum that truly does teach to each young age group and is a research-based early childhood music program that was founded in 1987. It is innovative and helps children learn to appreciate and participate in music through movement, singing, humming, and playing various instruments.
Each class is divided into semesters. With each semester, your family receives a CD for the car and one for the home, a songbook filled with tidbits about the music, the lyrics, and sheet music for all of the songs, and great ways to connect further with the materials. In addition, you will receive materials discussing the heavily research-based philosophy behind the program and how to further apply the program’s principles at home to engage in more playful learning using music. There are 9 different collections, so you could participate in 9 consecutive semesters (the semester at Music Together Dallas runs 10 weeks) and complete the collection.
Each semester is great as a stand-alone program, but I really feel that participating several times would be nothing but amazing to bring out the most in your child. Familiarity grows, confidence is fostered, and the desire to share in Music Together is strengthened with each exposure to it!
