This journey has been an interesting one! I have been vlogging about it and will share the videos with you later in this post.
When I began, the plan was to keep everyone on a primal or paleo diet while at home. My husband has since joined the bandwagon and has gone (mostly) paleo while out at work and with friends, too! The only one that is going pretty strict with it is me, and my hubby is still consuming traces on non-primal or non-paleo items (such as nuts roasted in soybean oil or nitrate-free jerky made with brown sugar). The kids have been doing pretty well, too. I thought they would flip out without bread, cookies, and crackers, but they haven’t complained.
We did go to Golden Corral over the weekend and I allowed them to get whatever they wanted and was sad to see that they loaded their plates with empty, carby calories. I shouldn’t have been surprised or upset, though, as that was their diet before all of this!!
Inspired by the lack of “fun” food in our current menu plan, I made Gracious Pantry’s Clean Eating Freedom Brownies and they were SO excited!! Paleo people can have BROWNIES?! They were in heaven. We are all eating more primal right now, since we do include some dairy in our diet right now. My kids enjoyed a breakfast parfait with the brownies 2 days in a row with a few of the brownies, which I had made in mini muffin pans, some full fat plain yogurt, and a handful of fresh berries. They picked blueberries the first day, and wanted blackberries the next.
We are spending all sorts of money at the grocery store, and I feel like I never leave the kitchen! HOWEVER, I am feeling great. We aren’t eating out all the time and spending countless dollars there to eat completely empty calories. I have lost a lot of weight already. My carb intake has been between 75-95 every day, so I’m still getting carbs with my meals.
I have still been tracking my calories on MyFitnessPal just to see (which is a Paleo NO NO, by the way), and I’ve been shocked to see how few calories it takes to satisfy me. I’m one of those people that has always felt hungry and have never felt full. That has TOTALLY changed. By day 2 on this diet, that changed! I can’t believe it. Anyway, I’m on Day 6 right now and will vlog a bit more later, but here are some videos to get you caught up on my journey! Subscribe to me on Youtube to keep posted on updates.
I admire your discipline! Very inspiring! Me and my husband are also following the 21 Sugar Detox (http://timreviews.com/21daysugardetox) and we’re almost through. Only 3 days left…and no regret, it’s absolutely worth the trouble.
Thank you,
Janice
So how did it go??? Has it made an impact on you now that you’ve been off for a while? 🙂
I am about to download the ebook for the 21 day sugar detox. I have a 7 month old baby (my 4th child) and I will be 40 in Dec. So I am highly motivated to start living life healthy. Starting by eliminating the sugar cravings is my first real attempt. Since January I have tried to watch what I eat but ended up binging instead. RED FLAG. Gotta take care of this sugar habit.
All that to say. Thank you for vlogging and blogging about this. I am excited to start. It is my goal to buy it, spend a week reading it and buy the necessary things and start!
How exciting!! Good luck with your journey! I’m considering doing another round. 🙂 Keep me posted!
